Are stimulants considered cheating?

VampiricLlama··1 votes·1,568 views

I recently started doing a thing where I'll chug a couple energy drinks and some nutritional supplements (something like 320mg of caffeine + b complex + potassium + creatine + L-carnitine) before going into soloqueue and it's been making a NOTICEABLE difference in my gameplay lately... like... sometimes things feel like they are going in slow motion... is it technically cheating to drug myself up with stimulants and memory/focus supplements for the sole purpose of enhancing performance?

you're overthinking things. You're not a professional so no one would care either way, and energy drinks aren't illegial to consume.

Well I know it doesn't actually matter, but I was just wondering what other people thought about it.

Whether or not a given action is cheating isn't an opinion. It's objective and based entirely on the rules that exist.

Considering there would be no way for Riot to prove you're consuming anything, it would be impossible for them to punish you for it. If you're asking other players their opinions on consuming this stuff before playing, personally its your choice what you put into your body, and how it effects your gameplay is out of anyone's control. In my personal opinion, as long as you're not abusing any type of prescription drug and everything you're consuming is legal, I don't think it's a problem. If you're abusing prescriptions from a doctor and/or use illegally purchased drugs, then I'd be against it.

In pro play(where large prize money/careers/etc, are on the line), thats probably up for debate. I would argue to some extent yes that it still is cheating, but thats not whats being discussed here.

Youre talking about using substances to enhance soloq performance, which practically means nothing.

That is the equivalent of taking steroids to win a schoolyard arm wrestling competition. Sure they cant detect it, but is your health so worthless to you that you would trade/risk it for meaningless soloq advantages?

Yes absolutely. Riot often sends their experts to drug test players every couple of weeks.

It's fine. People are also allowed to consume alcohol and other substances before/during play. It's a game that is intended for entertainment. Some people enjoy the game more strapped to their seat, white knuckled, while hyped up on stimulants. Others enjoy the game more while relaxed in a stupor of booze and sedatives. Unless you're playing professionally, it's all fine and the primary concern should be if you're paying for your entertainment is being paid for with your health or if you're spending too much time with it.

Uh, no. I mean, there's no way they can catch you. And in pro play I guarantee there is already rules for it in place.

You're fine rule-wise, but you might want to turn down a bit. Multiple energy drinks and coffein intake is too much.

there are people who play while high on narcotics because it slows down the game for them. I mean, you could have an asthma pump and take that during games you might get the same result. go for a jog beforehand, probably get the same thing. etc there's so many ways to get this effect that one can't call it cheating. aderral? spelling for that? like lol if your doctor gave you some of that good shit and if stimulants were cheating...iunno esports isn't ready for this.

Creatine is natural in the human body, and its likely why you're feeling a stronger mental clarity. Creatine effects more than just your muscles, its actually very healthy for your brain, and counteracts degenerative brain diseases. Starting on a creatine cycle will make you feel more alert and stronger. No its not cheating.

Dude, I've played ranked while drunk as a skunk... Not that it helped my gameplay... but it certainly made the game more fun... especially when I would troll pick.
