Varus.

It seems as though Varus was passed over during the marksmen rework.

I suppose that is acceptable if he receives his tweaks down the road.

He seems to occupy some space between AD caster and marksman. Either identity would be fine, if it was more cemented. At the moment, his only defining features (gameplay-wise) are his Q and R. W is nice for helping with tanks, but it typically doesn't take much thought...just aa and cast abilities that you would anyway. Also the little blobs that he stacks are a bit hard to notice.

His E is not bad. Considering his long range, we wouldn't want to give him an amazing escape or he might be too safe. The ability lacks flavor but i believe is acceptable as is.

Besides perhaps tweaking W and making it more interactive, what I really think he needs is a new passive. His current passive

> Living Vengeance > On champion kill or assist, Varus gains 40% attack speed for 6 seconds. > On minion kill, Varus gains 20% attack speed for 3 seconds.

is alright i guess if you can manage to utilize it in lane. However, it is really dull and not incredibly noticeable. If you are getting kills/assists, your team is likely winning the fight, thus the extra AS is somewhat wasted. IF you are losing the fights, due to his range, Varus can simply walk away and again the passive is wasted. IT's ok in lane, but is somewhat invisible power. let's not forget our favorite heart seeker (sorry Vayne Ashe , you have nothing on cupid)

tl;dr: Varus's passive and W are dull and somewhat throwaway abilities. Spice up Varus's abilities like was done for other marksmen, and possibly consider pushing him into a more defined identity (either AD Caster (preferably) or a marksman)

It's mainly because he didn't really need to be touched.

I agree, If you can hit his skill shots you deal tons of damage.

but i barely ever see him. If i do, he's usually a midlane AD caster Q spam bot, not a marksman bot lane.

i agree he doesn't need much but a new passive and/or tweaks to W could really help make the champion more fun and engaging

Hmm... I gotta say... This is probably the most well written post about Varus needing changes I've ever seen. Even just simply recognizing the fact that his passive is at least somewhat useful in lane even if it is lackluster puts you a mile ahead imo... XD Now I actually like the way he is now. I like his passive and I love his W! I would argue that his W is a defining feature simply because of the unique cadence of AA > AA > AA > Ability that no other champion really has... but that's not to say they couldn't receive good and healthy changes designed to push him more towards a specific identity. I might even like the changes as much or even more than I like what he has now. :D Well written and accurate! Thank you for the post. ;)

I would say that a rework is not needed. I find him very enjoyable to play and pretty evenly power balanced. Not sure why people recently want to fix him when he's not broken.

He actually did get a change a while back, his ult now applies 3 stacks of blight as well as pops the stacks, meaning if you build him Hybrid you can get some crazy burst.

Varus If Varus got silenced. Does his W still deal bonus damage?
