What is considered 'doing well' as an adc on aram?

I'm coming here salty to share my annoyance, move along if that doesn't interest you...

I play an odd sivir build on ARAM because y'know it's ARAM (and at this point it's tried and true enough I trust it well)

Goes Tear (cheap mana I don't have to wait on) then Death's Dance -> Cleaver (Max CDR+Sustain on Skill+Massive AoE armor shred) and then follow that up with whatever usually picking up the muramana whenever it's convenient.

Entire game I get bitched at by 3 champs, (2 on my team and 1 on the enemies) about how I'm not doing anything, near the end I vent a little and say something along the lines of "Jesus F*, Jax calm down I'm doing well" About 10 mins later the game is near end after those folks have finished telling me I'm not doing well, and 'an adc with no crit, or can't kill leona ever' bla-bla yatata whatever y'know.

So the question I had at end was : "What do you define doing well? Getting the most kills? Dying the least? Doing the most Champ and total damage? KIlling the most turrets? Because I did all of those things and I got cleaver so you (team had 2 more adc's) could do more damage. So wth do I have to do?"

To which the response was "Your build is awful" -left the room

Who cares, it's just aram.

  1. Who cares, it's ARAM. 1.5) Who cares, it's ARAM a video game.

  2. Did you win? because if so, why are they bitching?

  3. CDR builds on Sivir aren't uncommon. Admittedly, that is not the way I'd go about it. IMHO, tear takes a bit long for someone who isn't going to utilize it very well - none of her abilities are Single-Target (her Ricochet might proc it on the first hit? I don't know, but it doesn't proc on the others) so you're not using it very much. Sivir also shouldn't have mana issues on ARAM because she should be able to use her shield on CD to get mana (since there are usually abilities constantly being used on ARAM) and if you were really in a pinch for mana, Essence Reaver can give her mana along with better damage and less waiting.

But, I mean, its ARAM and this is the game mode where I regularly play AP Varus just for shits and giggles. Just because a build isn't the mathematically most effective doesn't mean you can't do it. Tanks going full AP (malph, nasus, etc) are seen all the time and they rarely get flack for it even if they are rarely effective

  1. And lastly,

Fuck 'em. Who cares what they think?

Try Vamp Scepter (start)->Essence Reaver->Shiv->LW->BT instead. It accomplishes what your build does while maintaining damage output.

as an adc doing well means not dying very much and dealing loads of 'damage dealt to champions'

if you can do those 2 things who cares what your build is

I used to have a similar build on some marksmen/markswoman champs since like season 4 on aram if the team could use something slightly less squishy plus more skillspam. Start with item 3070 and then usually go like this item 3004 item 3071 item 3153

and the other items were a bit more situational depending on the enemy team

item 3156 for magic resist item 3143 for armor item 1001 also varying depending on what I might need/want

and if needing some other utility or chasing/kiting item 3078 has decent synergy with sivir's bounding atk, think it was W or E, i get the two mixed up. plus more atk speed and AD. item 3022 adds tankiness and crowd control usually saved for if enemy team consists mainly of one damage type and already had sufficient defense for it.

with a mix of these items I could skillspam sivir's Q and bounces to harass enemy team while having ok AD and atk speed for damage, black cleaver and bork to shred tanks a bit and some sustain.
