Ping/latency suggestions?

As far as I know, your ping and latency are what decide how much you lag in game, and that the biggest problem faced is packet loss. I'm using 4g-lte usb modem, plugged directly into my computer, running windows 10. is it possible for me to help avoid my in game lag spikes? its incredibly annoying to dc for almost a full 10 seconds, going from what could've been a double kill to a gray screen instead. any help is much appreciated
