Buff tanks not the items.

The items are fine and if you want proof well if they were bad you would not build them but there are a lot of champions that build them.

Look at jg and support a lot of tanks are fine there but then you go to top and tanks are not good that shows the problem is the champions.

Look at the meta in top lane it is mostly sustain damage champions which already does well vs tanks.

So my way of making tanks come back is nerfing the meta top laners and buffing the tanks like mao, poppy, ornm, shen well any tank that's not mundo and cho. But DON'T BUFF THERE ap or ad ratios no one wants that. Maybe buff poppy's slow and the early game resistances on her w, lower maokai's mana cost. Things like that. While nerfing Irelia, aattox and darius.

Touching items and runes will do nothing unless you buff or nerf them to a stupid amount. Runes and items like conqueror and black cleaver are needed to stop tanks from being too good since it creates diversity. Like what happens if you nerf black cleaver well you nerf champions are already not good like wukong and barely touch the meta tops since most of them don't build it, you nerf conqueror then we go back to tanks being too good and bruisers feeling bad.

as a top main, there are a TON of tanks that are viable, like Sion, Malphite, Garen, Maokai, Poppy, and the completely OP Mundo and probably one of the best top laners right now Tahm Kench.

Or. They could reduce the INSANE amount of ways to just ignore tank stats.

Tanks struggle in early levels and can get all ined by a fighter wiht a big minion disadvantage. Also the damage is so high a tank is actually easy too gank compared too before. But solo lane tank items are weak items, you barely see fighters build tank items. Weak tank items is riots solution too assasins buiding tank, rito and people who hate meta changes dont like that.

You're right its top lane where tanks suffer and not other roles but you're wrong at buffing tanks. The argument that tanks need to be buffed because they dont win in top lane is the same argument mage players give against assassins. What you're asking for is to not give champs who are strong early game the oppurtunity to snowball by buffing tank and mage champs to match bruisers and assassins early game. The thing is late game IF bruisers dont get ahead they fall off hard where as tanks's cc thrive. If you play tanks incorrectly and dont cc the ad carry then yea your effectiveness drops, in higher elos players are better at protecting their carries meaning the tank is going to have a harder time locking them down and even if they do you still are reliant on your team to finish the carry during the duration. In these cases the tank could be weak early against his bruiser counterpart and weak late against the scaling armor pen building adc. I've yet to see a tank with equal amount of gold get bursted while building correctly.

Buffing tanks directly is exactly what causes the "tank meta" that so many players fear. Tanks end up pushing other champions from both top lane and the jungle.

In contrast, buffing tank itemization helps tanks, supports, and especially the juggernauts. The latter depends on tank itemization more than actual tanks.

They would buff tanks but for riot that means making them deal an extra Amumu 6% true damage or scale Gragas resistances off building damage.

They should lose damage for waveclear and durability. There should be no reason why tanks should have to do damage if they cant even outtrade in the first place unless the enemy fucks up.
