Yes, another topic about Wit's End

Still brainstorming on how to make this thing a pretty reasonable pick. How about component items? Everyone likes component items.

item 1057 + item 1043 = item 3091 Grants 30% IAS, 40 magic resist, and- UNIQUE passive - Witless: Your basic attacks deal 40 magic damage and grant you 5 magic resist. The magic resist stacks up to five times for a maximum of 25 bonus resist.

This guy would in turn be combined with another item 1043 to be upgraded into one of two final items.

Madred's Bloodrazor Grants 60% IAS, 65 magic resist, and- UNIQUE passive - Witless: Your basic attack deal 60 bonus magic damage plus (percentage) of the target's missing HP OnHit.

Or

Kitae's Bloodrazor Grants 60% IAS, 65 magic resist, and- UNIQUE passive - Witless: Your basic attacks deal 60 bonus magic damage and shred (percentage) of the target's magic resist OnHit. The magic resist shred stacks up to five times.

So you've got two options here. One would be more attractive to champs without much magic damage in their kit while the other would be great for dealing with hard targets on champions who do have plenty of magic damage in their kits. Because both passives share the same unique name, they wouldn't stack with each other. Ideally, after you buy one you shouldn't even be able to pick up another. I think both of these items would rather nicely fill in the gaps for champs who have a hankering for some extra magical oomph. Both of them are designed to 'ramp up' in more or less the same way Wit's does already, though they both do so in different ways.

There are just better DPS items in the game. The only way to make Wits viable is to break the item, so it's a must buy.

There's nothing wrong with Wit's (or its upgrades) being situational or niche buys. I know Irelia used to be a big fan of it before it got its MR shred. There are quite a few champs who wouldn't mind the thing but can't really take advantage of it because of the MR shred. By giving it a lower component item without the shred and a stronger completed item also without the shred as options the number of champs who would be able to consider it improves.

But why would you buy it instead of BoRK!?

Because you need more magic resist than the none BoRK offers more than a piddly 10% lifesteal. Come on, this stuff isn't complicated.
