@Riot: Why can't we zoom out more?

Hello there, just curious to know why players do not have the option to zoom out more?

As a Talon player, I need to constantly have the camera around my champ for proper use of my E pathing, but at the same time I also need it unlocked to keep an eye out on teamfights and where and when I should engage and honestly this constant shift between locked and unlocked mode is very tedious and feels so unnecessary.... I mean, with the option to unlock the camera, the existence of the fog of war and the minimap being a thing, its not like being able to zoom out more would give players any sort of unfair advantages, since all they will see is what they could have potentially seen otherwise if they used any of these options. So if anything I feel like being able to zoom out more would be a great quality of life addition to the game and would help new players get better map awareness and positioning as a whole.

Now, the first thing that comes to mind when considering why you didnt make this possible was programing issues, but seeing how the technology is being used for professional games replays that doesnt seem to be the case. Besides I have done a quick googe search and as it turns out, you can actually have a larger FoV by either using multiple monitors, an Ultra large monitor or by simply changing the games files to make it seem as though you do... I honestly don't see how this is fair, so why not just allow everyone to do so?

Theoretically it would be fine, but capped camera zoom is something from the RTS and Dota times when effects couldn't be hidden from the fog of war and it was hard coded into the Warcraft game anyway. Instead, abilities were balanced around you using them when the enemy doesn't have their camera there.

Nowadays certain ability effects, most notably Shaco Q and Baron, still use this design. I disagree with it but it's there for a reason.

Worst part is that wider screens actually have a larger view than screens that have a more square shape. It's old archaic design that feels like p2w especially after seeing a recording of Xerath not needing to move camera while charging Q

I do think it would be fine, in fact my biggest concern is that 4k and other high resolution monitor players are allowed to have a consistently larger FoV, and having a triple monitor setup is just about cheating really. That advantage used to be extreme when shaco smoke appeared in fog. I think this needs to be updated personally, but its whatever I guess.

I play a lot of talon on my main, so I can give you some advice. What I do is play with a camera lock and have the unlock camera button bound to my mouse button. That way I can cycle between a set and moving camera really quickly during roams and team fights just by clicking the side of my mouse.

becuz riot likes to bully the players 100% true. Not only but they think we are all the same trash, toxic and complaints people. which the actual truth that they are over neglect.

i think the issue would be tunnel vision is not as punishing as it should be if screen can be zoomed out more than right now, and MMR had always been balanced around current zoom out limitation

This is a game design choice to make optimal play and enjoyable play closer. They pick the range at which they think the game is enjoyable, and prevent players from using a less-enjoyable range just to achieve a tactical advantage. It's the type of feature that you might think could give you an advantage, but would ultimately just make everyone better (you don't get any advantage relatively) while everyone has less fun. Just because there are work-arounds doesn't mean they should make it an option, and if someone tells you to modify your game files that's potentially a way to get banned.

there was a bug with jhins ult, when u ult in practice tool and restart you will be completely zoomed out (range of jhin ult). and after 20 mins my eyes started to hurt badly. so i guess thats the reason why you cant zoom out further.

Just bind camera lock to something like space bar. Extremely useful.

The more of the map you can immediately see the less you need to watch the minimap. Basically the reason is skill expression on the macro game.

Yeah, shouldn't be killing people with Nunu mid with e's and comet.
