Why is Kennen tagged as 'Marksman'?

His entire kit scales with AP, with the exception of his W which requires you to attack 5 times to get the benefit of 80% AD bonus magic damage. While that's a pretty hefty amount, it's also the only ability he has that scales with AD. Building AD on Kennen means he's sacrificing damage he could have on Q, W's active, E and R, all for the bonus damage from W's 5th attack.

I'm not convinced that's entirely worth it, so I'm confused why Kennen is listed as a Marksman. He just gives up so much if he wants to go the AD route. Maybe I'm not building Marksman Kennen the 'right' way.

Can anyone explain why he has that tag? What build does ADC/Marksman Kennen have?

Same reason ashe is tagged as a support

Kennen and Ashe both have to ability to be played in those other roles.

Kennen has a secondary role of a marksman due to his decent base AD and his auto range. (And also his W, which you said.)

Ashe is secondarily named as a support because she has utility up the ass.

But that doesn't mean that they're great in those roles. they just have the potential to be put in those roles and do decent.

(Support Ashe is a poison of mine.)

Looks like someone here never played in mid-Season 2 to mid-Season 3.

Because he has ranged auto attacks... Gnar is labeled as one too..

Same reason Xerath is tagged as "assassin".

Honestly though, Riot's tagging system is kinda weird.

Kennen used to be a decent ADC. If you build him like a regular AD Carry, you can time his abilities well to stun-lock people and win through autos.

Why is Syndra tagged Support?

Because he marks men with his little electric shurikens

I heard that Kennen was Viable as an ADC once. And that lead to his AD ratios getting gutted.
