How would you feel about Frozen Mallet gaining Cripple-

-for melee users only?

A Crippled champion, in addition to being slowed, can still use displacement skills, but they don't go anywhere.

As if the mallet passive was not OP enough... It's the reason it's not reall stat efficient for it's price. Once you catch somone they can barely escape...

as long as you leave out the "can use displacement skills to no effect" part

this creates an anti-pattern called "fun fails to exceed anti-fun". you don't get to see your opponent fail to displace themselves when they use their movement ability, so there's no way to visually know that you've received an added benefit from crippling your opponent. it's better to just have it disable their displacement skills altogether so that you know exactly how much you've inhibited them.

And at that point, it's still anti fun because you get hit once and you are done for.

They've left Frozen Mallet intentionally in a terrible spot (notably build path and cost) because if you have no dash abilities, you can't escape at all from constant auto attacks perma slowing you. Adding "cripple" just makes the problem worse. Wouldn't be surprised if it went away like Atma's Impaler (or dramatically altered like Zeke's Herald.)

i feel like if the cripple was put on a reasonable cooldown -- something like "the target can only be crippled once every x seconds" it could work. permacripple is definitely a nono

also i'm fine with frozen mallet being completely removed from the game just so Gnar <- this motherfucker can stop abusing it

Honestly would have to be a pretty short duration since not being able to dash/blink away is just as bad as a slow/stun, and you might as well be dead. Even a second is too long.

You could probably just make it reduce the range of dashes by half, but no effect on blink effects.

Blink effects are already a hell of a lot more powerful than dashes.

Also, Ez is a little bitch.

Blink effects are also more rare and are a higher part of a champion's power budget anyways.
