I don't understand why people consider Yasuo to be a "cancerous" champion.

Okay, he's annoying to deal with, I agree to an extent. But there are ways to minimise him from ever becoming a threat. His kit makes him an extremely mobile, AS based knock-up fighter versus immobile champions that have limited or no dashes in their kit whatsoever, meaning that he is the ultimate counter to that as he can simply poke you out by dashing onto a minion, throwing his tornado and dashing back into the wave. He can juke your skillshots and troll his way to safety by dashing multiple times through a wave, effectively outplaying you and guaranteeing his survival.

But if you kill him faster than he can dash through to safety, you won't have to worry about him 1v5ing your team when he hits a tornado + ult. There is a reason why champions like Annie and Malzahar, two mages, each specialising in a different sub-role (Burst vs Control) destroy him. Annie can, if she baits out the windwall from him, one-shot him with her full combo and if he somehow survives or flashes away from your combo you have your AI pet bear to chase after him until he dies. Malzahar can space-aids his entire wave by quickly pushing it in so his minions die faster to turret so he has nowhere to dash to.

Irelia is another counter to him solely because of how her kit negates his kit. She has her Equilibrium Strike that stops him from dashing through the wave so she can use her Hiten Style and ultimate to all-in him fast, and killing him quickly so he doesn't live long enough to out-sustain her through multiple knock-ups and an ultimate that allows for increased armor penetration.

He is snowball reliant, but more importantly CS dependant because of how much his items cost in order for him to become useful. He needs a Phantom Dancer that costs 2550g, which is the standard price for a fighter item. It allows him to duel his enemies because of the passive it gives. Then he needs an Infinity Edge which costs an outstanding 3600 gold, basically a marksman item that is useful for the lategame. And to finalise, a Blade of the Ruined King/Frozen Mallet/Bloodthirster depending on what he needs the most; Tank shredding with sustain, more opportunities to stick to his enemies, or damage combined with great lifesteal, all costing lots of gold. In total he needs around ~10000 gold to be an effective fighter in teamfights. That's the same price for the cores for an marksman champion.

You pick Pantheon into him, he instantly loses the chance to outplay or snowball his lead because of how Pantheon is designed; to be a counter to AD and AS based champions and a lane bully. His block stops his Q because Yasuo's Q is treated as an auto-attack, therefore reducing the chance for Yasuo to ever beat Pantheon in a 1v1. A good Pantheon will know how to zone Yasuo out of EXP and Gold, so Yasuo will take a longer time to acquire his first 2 or 3 items. The same can be said for the AP counterparts, most notably Rumble and Kennen.

Think of Yasuo as a Fiora. If you kill her, camp her lane, remove her gold and EXP gains, she becomes useless, purely because she is snowball reliant. A snowball reliant champ who is very behind (let's say 3000 to 5000 gold behind their lane opponent) becomes useless until they farm up the gold defecit or splitpush multiple towers to gain an objective advantage.

Yes, I understand Yasuo can be seen as a secondary Tryndamere. He dies in lane 5 times, he is behind in gold and items but still manages to push turrets as fast as his twin-partner-in-crime Tryndamere. However, teams in high elo will know how to deal with this, most of the time sending 1 person to stop that splitpusher and allow for their team to hold back the push from the enemy team or fight it out if they are strong enough. I can see why some people would consider him "cancerous" in lower elo's, since they do not pay attention to the map when they are fighting a teamfight or attempting to take a big objective like Baron.

But that does not make him a cancerous champion. I will have to agree however that his double passive is a flawed idea. He should not be getting free crit and being able to get 100% crit-rate from only two items. But if you can get past that and understand how to counter this champion, you won't see him as the same "noob" "braindead" "no skill" champion. Good Yasuo mains know how to push their advantage when playing their champion, both mechanically and logistically.

Your thoughts on this subject are appreciated.

Okay, he's annoying to deal with, I agree to an extent.

When you're fighting someone who actually knows how to play him, he's extremely unfun to play against and it feels as if there's absolutely nothing to stop him since he has an extreme amount of outplay potential.

The problem is his passive and his kit has lots of safety,

His passive makes a crit rate item bonus doubled (20% crit becomes 40% for example), he has a shield every now and then just by taking an auto, so he has a fairly safe early game,

you seem to neglect that he gets his tornado is available about every 3 seconds, his wind wall is basically a "fuck you" to mages and marksman, as it spawns on him then moves forward a bit, he's probably got the most toxic kit of ANY mid laner.

Forget Veigar's Kit, it's not nearly as toxic as a squishy champ with TONS of safety.

A resourceless lane bully that scales amazingly into late game

Yeah I see absolutely no problem at all

my only issue with him is that his shield absorbs 100% of the first hit he is dealt regardless of what it is or how much damage it deals.

Theoretically if you were to shoot a 10,000 damage ult at yasuo, if his passive shield was up, he would take ZERO damage to his health. Asside from the windwall being extremely opressive, the shield feature is the real reason hes a complete piece of shit

Well... Old Malzahar countered Yasuo because none of his abilities were affected by windwall and he had enough flat damage to kill Yasuo...

Guys the reason Yasuo is so unfun is because the success of the champion is dependent on how much he can negate. No seriously think about it. He has a shield that can absorb damage, a windwall to cancel projectiles, a dash to avoid skill shots, a knock up(crowd control), and an ult that gives back his shield and extends the knock up. Thats why yasuo is toxic in himself and his players. Ever pick a point and click champ into yas where there is nothing to "outplay". They tilt and feed. Basically they get so used to steam rolling people with the champ they dont even realize when to stop fighting, because no matter how bad things get when a yas gets his items they should be able to win. Never once understanding that they cant all in Kennen Irelia Jax Fiora . Because there is nothing there to be negated. He takes skill yes, other champs have crowd control yes, other champs can be mobile yes, BUT! if you throw all these things together and add in double crit and free armor pen(which is okay for melee carry) he becomes oppressive. And lets be honest, do you really want to counter pick a champion based on the laning phase? No. Thats why people ban him. Hes pretty toxic, not at all over powered in any way, but id rather deal with zed, talon, lee, or any other melee carry if I'm a non point click mage player. So I don't get mad when people ban him, hell i ban Janna because i play MonkeyKing and Kennen . Id rather not have my whole kit countered XD

Edit: No I don't think Yasuo is over powered, not since the nerfs like 3 seasons ago, but i main Wukong and previously mained kennen.
