There are not one, not two or three, not four but FIVE SEPARATE QUEUES FOR YOU TO PLAY IN. And all of them consist of fun game modes that will abide to your wrath of wasting your entire team's time by intentionally feeding and not being serious for what is supposed to be a competitive game mode.
What is with this assumption that people who are playing for "fun" don't try to win? My definition of fun is a highly-skilled, fairly balanced matchup where each team is performing well and it isn't a one-sided stomp. Ranked is the best place for those types of games. I don't care if we win or lose if it was genuinely a good game. If we win, we win. If not, oh well.
First off, LoL is a game. Even though it has a competitive atmosphere, it shouldn't be taken as seriously as people do. That being said, I think you should still play for fun AS LONG AS YOU TRY.
There's a difference between people who play ranked for fun, and feeders. Don't equate the chill players to the trolls.

i'm currently gold 5 and i play ranked purely for fun. if i started tryharding and maining one champion to climb that wouldn't be fun for me and i would not want to try in ranked games anymore. having fun and climbing in ranked aren't mutually exclusive to each other. if i want to go off meta stuff like attack speed cho gath jungle(my fav) i'll do it and do my best. i am not doing it to troll my teamates or to see how angry i can make them or how many reports i can get. and in the end it works out pretty well most of the time.

I don't really care if they queue up for ranked. As long as when the time comes for them to play there part they do it and they don't feed. I'd much rather some lazy slacker on my team who plays farming simulator than some overly tryhard ass who flames the team for him dying to the enemy jungler when trying to steal their blue.
Keep winning normals and you'll be kicked up to a higher elo.
I had a bud who used to only normal with high plats n diamonds, couldn't win a normal for the longest unless he was with them
