Advice for a new Ezreal main.

Hey guys, with Season 5 I have been placed in Silver 5. I've never been a ranked player, but decided I'd see how far I could get this year. I've fallen in love with Ezreal in an adc role. I'm looking for advice against other adcs. Who to focus in lane while poking, advice on pushing and freezing the lane etc.. Thanks guys for your opinions and ideas.

As Ezreal, you are going to have to come to terms that you are at a disadvantage in an even skill matchup against most ranged carries. You cannot reliably hit your Mystic shot in a minion wave, your Arcane shift will hit your unintended target and your Essence Flux is quite low-damage. He's probably the most snowbally AD-Carry in the game due to high base damage abilities, mixed damage, long range, a blink and a large attack speed steroid.

-Look up various Ezreal builds and find one that can fit your playstyle. My personal favorite is Manamune - Trinity Force - Boots of Lucidity - Blade of the Ruined King - Last Whisper - Infinity Edge. Pure damage.

-Find good opportunities and combos to trade with your opponent. If you have Sheen, use Essence Flux on an enemy champion if you cannot reliable hit your Mystic shot and auto-attack them for a Sheen-proced auto-attack. You're more likely to win a trade this way.

-The general rule for poking is to poke whoever you can. As you play AD-Carry more, you'll pick up when someone is out of position, which direction someone is likely to juke and how much damage you can output vs. them.

-Freeze the lane if you have a surefire advantage where you can fight effectively through a minion wave and zone them from farm. Push when you are trying to gain an advantage. Pushing ensures that you have more minions fighting on your side for you when a trade occurs.

-Coordinate with your Support. Ezreal can work well with any Support as long as you coordinate with pings, words or you're both just on the same wavelength.

Good luck Explorer.

Alternative viewpoint:

You can play him similar to lucian or graves. That is to say: build pure AD (BT, BotRK, IE), and use your E as a quick sidestep to either chase, or escape. Max it and Q first. Use Q to poke them down. A LOT. It has almost unparalleled range. Then close in for the finish. and ult if they try to get away.

I always grab a Sheen first item, I suppose it depends whether you can hit the Q's in lane or not.

Generally go Trinity, IE, LW, Bortk/BT, GA

Oh and make sure you get Furor on those boots ;) If someone is chasing you, just Q them and keep running, doesn't matter how fast they are, you're faster.

You won't outrade any other AD carry unless you hit those Q's. Whoever it is, poke them from a decent range, you can always E into a position where you can get a Q off. Focus the most threatening target on lane, and keep your Q for trading, not for farming. Once you hit 6, you can engage out of a bush with REQ, most people don't expect it. If you went a Sheen first item, be sure to AA inbetween your abilities.
