@Riot: Early conclusions on Ryze balance?

I'd like to hear from ChampUp or balance: what are the early opinions on Ryze balance? His winrate is atrociously bad, but obviously at least part of that is due to players trying to figure out how to play/build him. Thoughts? And, if you were going to make balance changes, what parts of his kit would you look at?

Win rate's low, performance when played well's not bad though and he's got a fair bit of learning curve, especially with the ult. We're going to let him sit as is for a patch, then consider changes for 6.16. If we were to buff him current thinking is that just some base stats might be the most likely thing. He's got plenty of damage already and at least right now we don't want to put more power into his ult either.

Ryze I feel like may need a nerf considering he does a lot of damage with his e and q, but maybe later down the line because he is on a learning curve for like almost the whole community still.

How about this, Riot. How to make Ryze good again?

  1. Remove the damn clear wave. It's insane how he can just clear the wave at level 2. "Oh, my enemy is pushing the lane? I can do better!"
  2. His passive is pretty shit. Now you make him an AP champion over Mana when Ryze's whole kit is based on Mana, not AP.
  3. How long is his Ryze's Rune Prison (W) again? 15-17 seconds long? Oh right. You must W the correct champion to make Rye strong.
  4. Don't even think I would say this Ryze good.
  5. The moment you took out his E penetration and Spellvamp Ryze winrate became worse.
  6. If I was you, I fire the person who thought this Ryze would be good.
  7. If you were to keep one Ryze you, Riot, should've kept the second version Ryze. Reasoning? Wasn't as broken as the first version becasue it had decent early-game trades. If you were to remove the level 3 clear wave on the second version, I think that Ryze would've been fine. If you were to buff second version Ryze's W range and E damage, I think that Ryze would've been right.
  8. Ryze is suppose to have a bad early game, but an amazing late game. You didn't give him that anymore. Now you gave him an early game clear wave and trades. This Ryze I only see a mid-game while the others were late game.
  9. The currecnt Ryze has the damage, but you gotta buff up his Rune Prison.
  10. His ultimate (R) is so easily detachable. Who's idea was it? Fire him.

Final Thoughts? This is not Ryze.

Ryze is busted this patch and even Anivia and Yasuo are jealous of his waveclear and how little it costs :^ ) The low winrate is the same tards that make Azir winrate look bad

I'd say he's going to take more time since he's actually a hard champion that you can't just pick up and learn like Taliyah that just recently came out. Ryze is a champion that is hard to master and hard to learn.

Meddler I just have a quick question about Ryze ult (not really about balance specifically). Can you fire a projectile into the ult to take it somewhere else (Like an Ashe or Ezreal ult for instance)?
