Not sure if you saw the 0.00 seconds or not lol. I do not have spidey senses, I cannot see into the future. 0.00 seconds is...well below the threshold of human reaction time. There was no way I could have activated Zhonya's.

You knew he was going to leap unto you.

You could have activated the Zhonya's the exact moment you saw him leap. I've seen others do this plenty of times.

I looked at my base for half a second to see if I needed to recall (I did) and then my screen went grey.

Regardless, 1500 damage in such a small increment of time that the game can't even measure it doesn't seem fair. There doesn't really seem to be counterplay to that other "buy X item."

This argument is lol. If a character forces you to stare at the screen for 20 seconds without averting yourself to anything else, they are garbage design. No character should kill you in 0.0 seconds. He was garbage to play against before, and he's garbage to play against again. If you're an ADC player, you're boned since you'll be glued to your support's hip for the rest of the game if Rengar happened to get through the ban phase. And then you're stuck relying on them to actually peel for you whenever you can't Flash to avoid him ulting. That's IF he doesn't Flash to make you irrelevant anyways.

then by that logic everything has a terrible design during the laning phase since if you look away for 20 seconds the minion wave will come up and eat you alive and the enemy champ has already done their combo

Well your main problem is that the Rengar got fed. If you shut him down early he is basically useless for the rest of the game. It’s kinda hard to 1 shot somebody if that person is ahead and has itemized correctly.
