Galio W + Athenes

Why not make galio's W (bulwark) apply the healing to the target rather than only galio, so as to make athenes viable on galio again. the healing on the target would apply the athenes stacks! this would give galio more utility for his team, and even make him a semi viable support since he would offer his adc some sustain even pre athenes. although galio would lose the ability to sustain off his frontliner with bulwark during seiges, I believe the tradeoff would be fair and good.

IF you KNEW how Much I hate to play vs galio only because of that shield.

It's not a bad Idea tho

well it works when you shield or heal your ally , that being said you shield you adc if galio support you get healed off the damage dealt to him and you heal him from the passive of item 3174 . no?

not sure I understand you correctly but basicly, galio's w currently does not count as a shield or heal, it only raises armor and mr on an ally, but being damaged with it on heals galio regardless of it being on an ally. so to change it so that the heal from being hit applied to the one who actualy had bulwark should count as a heal from galio to an ally and thus apply athenes stacks.

how is it not a shield if it gives mr and armor ? that is what shields do ?

Shields give an amount of extra health that dissipates after some period of time. Things like Karma's shield, Janna's shield, Lee Sin's shield, etc. Giving armor and mr is just a buff. It's a defensive buff, but it's not a shield.

Athene's only triggers off of shields or heals, and it only heals up to the value of the shield/heal. Galio is currently shielding for 0, so he can't get a proc off.

you sir are correct. if the were to classify as a shield Galio support with item 3174 could be nearly viable.

and i like my Galio support, maybe less flame if it did allow to heal

Wait, are you asking for Athene's heal to be used on the target shielded by Galio, or changing his W itself to heal the champion targeted with it?

Te second is necessary for the first.

Technically speaking they can code it to work without altering how his shield works. It wouldn't be the first time they've had to make exceptions in their spaghetti code. That said, you are correct that in technical terms it's not a shield, it just visually displays as one.

Either way, I was asking the OP to clarify. So that's who i'm waiting on.

I would like the w to allow the target to receive the healing rather than only galio, and thus for athenes to apply its healing because of that change. so both!

That would undoubtedly make it far too strong if both Galio and the other person received the heal. Honestly his kit is fine as is. As was already pointed out, it's not truly a shield, so Athene's passive shouldn't work with it.

I'd prefer one of my mains to continue being ignored by Riot and the community. Riot either overbuffs champions then nerfs them into the ground, or breaks them entirely. Don't need FotM chasers all over the poor golem.

Oh my, I do feel special. He's well suited for that definitely, though even if they're not, he's viable. Just depends on team comps.
