What elo do brand new accounts start at?

I've started rank on a new account, and I'm facing high silvers/gold players. Is that right? Doesn't it seem a bit high for a brand new player?

I thought I'd start at low bronze...

I'd have to disagree. The biggest issue with the Bronze tiers is that it's full of those that simply haven't grasped enough of the basic mechanics of the game that we've been taught to play around with up unto our level 30 cap. Also, I realize I'm bronze right now as well, but that's an entirely different reason I'd rather not get into.

Silver feels like the proper middle ground, especially for placements. While it does honestly feel like placements this season is full of unfair circumstances for new/continuing players, the rank/tier itself insinuates that the player already has said grasp on the game's required mechanics and functions, and simply needs to test and improve upon themselves, the skills necessary to climb higher.

To start people in Bronze regardless of placements is an unfair stigma that even I wouldn't wish upon others. The tier is too stressful to deal with, especially if they aren't there for a good enough reason.

Grasp mechanics that now change every season, dragon only global gold kk now it's different elements...tower global gold. Plants that make u jump over walls...everything changes in this game every season. You get used to a champ then bam rework

Bronze isn't an unfair stigma. If you're a brand new player in any game, you wouldn't assume that you're better than half the players already. You'd assume you're near the bottom.

If anything, it'd be unfair to those in silver having a noob on the team.

That's great if you want to assume literally every person in their placements will be a complete novice, but assumptions are kind of sort of..... well, entirely irrelevant.

Same with the assumption that every person will be around the 50th percentile. The question is, what is the likely skill level of a brand new player?

I can't tell if you're assuming I'm making an assumption, or if Riot is. My point was, is that being balanced with the Silver tier gives them a more even ground to express where their current skill level is. That's it.

That comment is almost as obscure as Trump's hairline. My point is a new player will likely be in B1/S5 - since those are the largest divisions (roughly equal). Which is why I expected to start there instead of S2/S1.

Silver 2. Every win is like a division like you win 1st three games you end up playing vs gold 4 or something. Think of it as you always start silver 2 and every win gains you half a division. per say 10-0 ussually you get gold 1. I'm saying this cause everytime i 10-0 i smurf i get gold 1. has happened like on 10 different accs.

If you lose the 1st games it works vice versa aswell per say lose 1st two then win the other 8 u gonna end up gold 3 and below etc etc depending on if you won/lost 1st 4 games.

Also we talking about FRESH accounts that have never had ranked played on them before fyi. Just in case the example you brought up is an acc that has had ranked palyed on it.
