What elo do brand new accounts start at?

I've started rank on a new account, and I'm facing high silvers/gold players. Is that right? Doesn't it seem a bit high for a brand new player?

I thought I'd start at low bronze...

Riot starts people off at silver. Which, yeah, is a bit high for new players

Silver 2. Every win is like a division like you win 1st three games you end up playing vs gold 4 or something. Think of it as you always start silver 2 and every win gains you half a division. per say 10-0 ussually you get gold 1. I'm saying this cause everytime i 10-0 i smurf i get gold 1. has happened like on 10 different accs.

Initial MMR for accounts with no ranked history is Silver 4.

This is right in the middle of the playerbase.

Mid silver, with leniency either way depending on your placements. I was placed silver 2 my first time.
