Inconsistency with champ releases

So I am writing to GD because I don't understand the thoughts behind why riot releases a jungler like Rek'Sai with clear weaknesses and yet still allows a champion like #lcsbigplays Lee-Win? I mean take a look at the notes for Rek'Sai, it even says don't fight Lee because you won't win! "Lee Sin’s got the damage, sustain and mobility with Sonic Wave and Safeguard to hunt down and kill Rek’Sai whenever she tries to tunnel her way into the Blind Monk’s jungle."

Rek'Sais strengths -Counter jungler (while enemy champ is not around). With the longer respawn times on jungle camps is this really a positive? Meanwhile most other junglers are ganking a lane. -Mobile menace. Only mobile when someone doesnt step on your tunnels and destroy them. -Mobile champ detector. Probably her greatest strength but also her main weakness. Vision is OP and while tremorsense allows you to see enemies coming and going if someone is stationary you will not see them and walk straight into them. Also can't attack while burrowed and can't see incoming skillshots. -Void rush. Get back to your jungle faster and gain gold and xp. I thought they nerfed the xp gains when you are higher level than most people.

Rek'Sai's weaknesses

  • Reduced vision. Skillshots to the face for days anyone? Can't see that lux ult? No problem because you are underground you should be safe.. Oh wait you don't gain anything defensively for not being able to attack in that state.
  • No burst. Isn't Rek'Sai supposed to deliver on the "land shark" fantasy? What shark doesn't deliver burst when they attack their target?
  • Minimal CC. OK so a 10s knockup is nice, but her bio suggests she has the tools to Slow someone? "Using her considerable utility to slow and stop her targets escape" I don't see anything in her kit to suggest this is actually reality. Where is her considerable utility??
  • Not a brawler. She "works best when she can follow up on solid initiation". OK, so no burst and not a brawler. Maybe she should have been renamed Rek'Sai the Void Ward instead.

So some clear weaknesses here when you look at her kit and bio, why then does this not translate to Lee Sin? Lee does it all and still is allowed. Where is his power budget? He has the mobility, damage and sustain as quoted by riot yet that is OK for him. I just don't get it. I realize this post is a 'glass half empty' but I am struggling to see why so much disparity exists and is not being addressed.

Lee Sin needs to feel the pain. He has been blind to nerfs for too long.

I actually think she'll be similar to Shaco how she falls off to being a great splitpusher. Think about it; you hide a tunnel in the longer side bushes around mid-game (who bothers to check them unless they're pursuing a fleeing enemy?), buy that new Void item that splitpushes for you, and then pop it on the other side of the map. Immediately ult down the river to your tunnel and start pushing like mad.

Before the enemy team realizes it, you've already taken a tower or two.

EDIT: I didn't address the Lee Sin part of your post. Morello said that nerfing Lee Sin would make his fanbase erupt into tears. I mean...yeah, it's exactly as bad as it sounds. It's blatant favoritism at this point.

Where is his power budget? He has the mobility, damage and sustain as quoted by riot yet that is OK for him.

Skillshot jokes aside, his budget comes from the fact that he does have a high skill cap. You can see the difference between someone who has just picked up Lee, and someone who actually took the time to learn him. A lot of people like playing Lee. A lot of people are certainly not good at playing Lee.

I honestly don't think Riot knows what to do with Lee Sin without completely destroying him and rebuilding him from the ground up. He just does way too much.

And we all know how popular Lee Sin is. People would freak if Riot said he was up for rework, more so than any other champion most likely.

Riot seriously needs to create champions that can counter Lee Sin. Or at least match Lee Sin's strength instead of Lee Sin being a direct counter to them.

Look at her kit AD ratios, they are better then Riven's and AoE. With some cdr you can get near perm aoe attacks + hyrda your doing a redic amouts of aoe.

His burrow is a distance closer or meant to be, or as an escape. Not an invisibility like Twitch.

I'll admit, this was the first thing I thought of when Rek was described as "mobile and paying the price for it". I don't think Lee is as awful as people say he is (outside LCS anyway and I'm ok with the LCSbigplays), I don't think he's been in even 5% of my games recently.

It comes down to how useful Rek is lategame. Being able to split with the Zz'Rot Portal will be pretty strong, so she might not fall off lategame at all.

Riot favors Lee sin too much because Lee Sin has become the poster child for Professional Junglers. He's often described as a "must learn", he has professional names associated with him "Insec", he is seen in so many big plays that it helps marketing more likely than not. It's possible for anyone who sees a pro play Lee sin probably thinks they can achieve those same feats with enough practice.

So they invest in skins, runes, rune pages and such for this one champion. Lee Sin HAS to be a money grabber for Riot and they know it. Thats why he will never be taken out the top ranks, or see a loss in viability because Lee sin has developed an identity too important for riot to part ways with. Thematically theres no reason why Lee Sin should defeat Rek Sal "easily", this is just an excuse to further push his popularity amidst new champions being added as possible junglers. It's sad but true.
