Can you get demoted a tier?

So here's the deal. I just got placed into S5, I won a game then lost one so I'm back down to 0 LP. I know from experience that if you lose another game at 0 LP AFTER you win at least one game you get demoted, however I've heard that the same is not true when it's a case of going from S5 down to B1. In other words, losing will not drop you from a tier. I've heard that inactivity make you vulerable though. Can anyone confirm how accurate this is?

Inactivity works only in high ELO.

Losing can drop you a tier. I was S4, now I'm B2. It takes about 5 or 6 losses at 0 LP. It doesn't have to be consecutive either.

the higher elo you get the harder it is to demote a rank when you get down to 0 lp at the 5th division. it took my friend about 20-30 losses at plat 5 to demote to gold 1. however if you've recently demoted say from the 4th division to the 5th its probably much easier for you to lose your tier at 0 lp

riot doesn't give us any specific numbers to any of this shit so we just estimate

I think I heard that you would have to lose to the point that your MMR is equivalent to that of the tier below you, IE if you're S5 you would have drop down to B1 MMR in order to get demoted

You need to have a mmr of a full tier below you, not just division. So to get demoted from S5 to B1, you need a B5 mmr. (Similar for G5->S1 and so on.)

LP decay and demotions resulting from inactivity is only for plat+. Ones MMR does not decay over time though, so plat+ folks just need to play the occasional game to avoid being demoted, and even if they lose a bunch, so long as their MMR stays above a gold 5 level they'll stay in plat.

Yes and no. You can't just tank your games forever and expect to stay in Silver, but there is a pretty hefty buffer that stops you from dropping until your MMR is significantly below the level of your current rank.

I got demoted from silver 4...to silver 5 then to bronze 1. Am i a bad player? NO! How i know it? if u check my last 20 matches u will see i usually have (K+A)/D in a range between 2-20. I die very few times....usually 0->4 max... So how i got demoted so much? Cause ranked bronze-silver are full of afkrs/trollers/feeders/idiots. I was placed in silver 4...cause my stats in flex....i was first in my tier with 75 points....2 more matches 4 promotion silver 3... then many and many games where ppl were just afk/feeded enemy on purpose....i even met 1 man feedding for 0/31/0 enemy....looked at his profile...he had 20 matches feeding enemy like that with no 1 item equipped(maybe a frustated kid stopping playing lol and havin fun upsetting other players....riot what did to stop him? i really dont know....20 games ruining other ppl matches...bah...) And again....too many kids surrendering after just 5 mins....cuz they get killed(cuz they dont def under their turret but ofc they run trying to catch a kill getting ganked themselves)...ppl selecting a second adc instead of support... junglers never helping lanes in difficult (in cases opponent laner is worst ally laner enemy: example...we have garen and they have teemo/gnar). When i got demoted silver 5 to bronze 1 i had 4 matches in a row loosed cuz feeders/afkrs...u cant help it....u should be a master/challenger to win carry alone matches where a lane get feeded and loose tower in 2 mins... Plus...ofc....low ranked tiers (expecially bronze) are full of those people. How can u hope to win 3 matches in a row to be promoted to silver again in those conditions???(ofc if u achieved 100 LP in bronze 1)
