I'm seeing Sightstone being bought less and less. Upgrading a yellow trinket gives a support equally as good ward coverage and frees up the item spot for something much more useful than +200hp. I think the Sightstone needs a buff. Maybe allow 5 wards to be placed, but only if you have a Sightstone? Or three vision wards? It's just not worth it when you can upgrade your trinket and get a locket instead.
When I'm support, I always buy Sightstone + Sweeper. It's not only about getting vision, but it's about denying vision too.
sweeper is too good to pass, also pre lvl 9 you'd be fked and it sometimes takes quite long for a support to get lvl 9...
You should always get a Sightstone + Sweeper when you are a support.
Yellow trinket is not good on a support, nor enough.
Make it with different paths, and all recharging.
Played a 44 min game yesterday and had the upgraded trinket as mid-lane. I put down 27 wards. Support with Sightstone put down 39. Enemy jungle (Lee Sin) with Sightstone put down 25.
It's your call, I guess, but the SIghtstone+Sweeper is too good of a vision power combination to let it pass up for a "free item spot" which, unless the game drags on or you're straight out carrying your team (or stealing kills :p) won't fill that often.
Also, boots aren't exactly situational, save for AD's selling it for Zephyr, but now that's a situational scenario.
Sightstone is required on a support. Your team should have lots of sweeper and your sightstone and the rest of the team should buy more wards, too. The vision battle is one of the most important battles in the game and denying your ability to attack the enemy in it is totally not worth it.
