Tahm Kench's abysmal winrate.

So lolking says Tahm Kench's winrate currently sits at 37% with the general public. But then going to probuilds it looks like the pros have an even WORSE time with him, at 25%. I know he's new and people are still learning how to play him but part of me feels like he might just be a weak character.

What are people's thoughts on him currently, strength wise?

He literally came out 5 days ago. People have not practiced him much and do not know how to play him.

I think he's fine, nice and tanky with good damage. Maybe they could add a little damage on his third consecutive hit on a champion? However, he is so much fun to troll with that I am not surprised the rate is that low. Maybe it is grabbing that rager and spitting him into the enemy turret/fountain. Are you getting sick of no one contesting that Baron as they dance around the backside while the enemy team gets a free one? Grab someone and spit them in 1v5.

This is honestly the most fun I've ever had playing league is trolling with Tahm.

I think Tahm will be considered overpowered rather than underpowered when players learn to use him properly (which shouldn't take too long; he's not particularly complicated). He's capable of decent sustain, crazy tanking (you effectively have to kill him twice if he uses his shield at the right time), plenty of damage, playmaking (ult and using W to bring an initiator into the enemy team), and play-denying (using W to protect an ally or prevent an enemy from initiating— imagine him eating Kennen and carrying him away from Tahm's team). His primary weaknesses appear to be mana sustain and the clunkiness of his R (it feels like it takes forever to finish its animations), along with %health damage. He has relatively little mobility (easily-interrupted ultimate with along animation + a speedboost that requires eating an ally and having enemies to run towards) or waveclear, but his single-target damage is fairly high if he can apply his enhanced Q and W to an enemy.

His W seems to be buggy— I think it prioritizes eating allies over enemies, making it very difficult to use W on foes when you have melee allies. His Q has a very fat hitbox, making it difficult to use on enemies when there are minions anywhere near you.

I hope Riot doesn't nerf him to the point that he can't be taken into the jungle or a solo lane; I don't want to see him shoehorned into supporting just because he's good at it.

In Tham's case it's also not just about practicing him, it is partly practicing with him.

People need to react and use his ult, and also expect to be saved by his devour.

Both of these so much. I hate when my ADC flashes when I could have devoured him and gotten him away easily. Even after I've saved them from bad trades a few times, they have trouble grasping that I will save them this time as well, and they Flash away. Or they run away from me, staying just out of reach so I can't Devour them. Or they hop out, as soon as they can, and they hop out the wrong direction, back toward the enemy team, and die.

Also, people don't always understand that Devour can be used offensively as well. For example, low HP Riven and I were chasing two low HP enemy team members. When they got near the turret, I Devoured Riven and ran past the turret, spitting her out beyond the turret and right on top of them for a double kill. Tried the same thing another game, and as I passed the turret, he hopped out, back the way we'd come, letting free kills go, and me taking 3 turret hits for nothing.

And for the ult, I've only had 2 games (out of 30) where people even took my ult. Both of those games, it was a thing of beauty. Pop behind the low health runners and clean up. Pop our jungle to dragon for the steal and clean up. Pop our jung behind their adc/supp for a sweet gank. It's good fun when you play with someone who understands your ult. But mostly I am using it to pick off unsuspecting split pushers by myself, or to quickly get to a lane and clear a massive wave off a turret, or to quickly ward somewhere well past our ward line.

You gotta take into account the fact that he's the favourite of every troll in the game (although it's probably a huge factor, it still counts).

Maybe it's because a large group of people are just using him and the Devour ability to troll their own teams? I see this in about 1 out every 5 Tahms on my team, just there to fuck with people. That's a guaranteed 20% loss rate right there alone.
