How do you trade with Riven early levels as melee champion?

There are 2 cases here:

Im super bad at this game (but i consider myself a decent player for my tier)
You can't

I swear i tried to trade with her with basically every melee champion in game, and it's ungodly difficult if not impossible to stay even.

Thanks to her Kit and her passive specifically you cannot do anything. What kind of champion permits to tower dive an opponent at lvl 3 if you have ignite?

I am not saying that she is super mega broken or stuff like that, but playing against her as melee is just miserable. Even if you get a kill or two, just wait until she buy brutalizer or stuff like that and you are DEAD.

I would like to see some changes to her kit that favors some more "interactive" play as melee against Riven

I normally just wait until her Q is on CD and then you can trade with her... you've got like an 8 second window. But a good Riven player won't allow you that by keeping her stun up. Solution? Play a ranged top lane ;)

Yeah but if she picked after you what do you do? I swear i can barely CS decently against a riven, if you evne try to get near a minion you lose half your health in 1 sec

as a top lane main, i have never found it that difficult to play against riven, granted riven is a fucking monster, and i do not like fighting against her because it is indeed easy to die, but you just play safe until you can properly engage. if you stay behind your minions, she cannot engage you. your minions aggro will deplete her hp too quickly , and as long as you dont stand in her Q range then you will be fine.

as for csing.... thats all about your timing.

Well thanks for the advice.... but i still think a good riven player can just set you so far back from your minions that you can literally do nothing, unless you are ranged of course
