I'll agree that I miss the old runes, I miss em to death but imagine what would happen if we kept All items that have ever existed in their original forms.
Cinderhulk which buffed between 25-25% health upon release would be a requirement for all tanks. People would always take smite just to get that health boost. Combine that with 1500 health warmogs, that's an extra 375-525 health from one added item. Combine that with any other health/tank items and you can easy get an extra 1500-2000 health from cinderhulk bonus. I remember playing super tanky Zac with over 5.5 k health and take forever to die. Now to match that I have to take Sion into battle and even then I'll typically hit around 4k health in a 35 minute match.
League has evolved. Playstyles have changed. Whether we wanted all of the changes is one thing but it has changed. Some change is good! I loved the new Sion rework. I never even looked at Sion before the rework and when I saw that Charge Ult, I thought "Well that looks awesome!" With Akali, who I've never played, I look at that and think "How can I beat this?" In the sense of how can I counter her. The talonesque hopping over walls, and new True Stealth function makes for a challenging opportunity. While I imagine itll he hard to beat at first, Imagine how youd feel if you could counter her new style with something you've always done.
Other changes like Mordekaiser's weak attempt at a rework were disheartening. As a champ I feel hes out of any role, he lacks CC, he isn't that tanky, he moves slow, his damage is subpar, and his previously bursty ult is no longer that bursty. In my heyday with him, I could nab a penta every once in a while since he did more damage and could take some* (But not as much as a tank).
I've played since S4 and I've felt the shift from tank to burst in this last season. It's generally lowered my playtime because I've almost always played tanks, I enjoy a game where people can try to kill me but dont succeed, and now I'm seeing that less and less. Heck my MMR is in the gutters due to my inability to fully adapt and I'm not afraid to admit that.
Ultimately Riot will make League of Legends as it sees fit to do. As they make money from LCS, they will want to push LCS and their styles. They are a business and offer us a service with League of Legends. If we really want to rally and demand change, the best way to do so is to have EVERYONE who watches LCS stop watching, and have everyone stop purchasing RP, a sort of union if you will to stop them from making money. But why do that when you can simply stop playing? That's what a lot of people do, when they stop enjoying something they stop doing it unless they are forced to do so. No one is forcing us to play League, no one forces me to shell out cash for a cool skin, no one forces us to play only certain things, it's all voluntary. When I first started League as a teenager, I would never have thought this way, but now as an adult with some idea how the world works it makes sense. It's easier to quit a video game with so many others on the market, so why play League?
Because you love it.
If Riots decisions hurt you, you lash back. When they dont seem to answer, it's annoying. When they do things you dont want it's frustrating. When they continue all of this we get angry, HULK ANGRY!!! All these emotions can only surface if you love something to begin with. I love League, I am pissed with things Riot has done, but I voice that every time they give me a survey in my email. Most of the time I don't notice anything done from my comments but they have to have done something before with other peoples comments. In my opinion, if you love this game, you'll adapt to it and politely (and collectively) ask them to undo changes. They've done that to Leblanc, who knows? I might get classic Zac back.
