Something I would hope may change, I played as garen thinking hes still some kind of tank. We go up against a fiora, riven, and jinx. Anivia mid lane on their team, our ori did just fine. Seeing that ori was winning, I went all armor. Close to full build, I had 400 armor, supposedly reducing damage by 82%. Every fight, with just a black cleaver for armor penetration, I was still getting 4-5 hit by riven or fiora. Even with thornmail, which I must say is the most useless item in the game seeing that lifesteal counteracts that 10 fold, I was getting destroyed. Come on, at least let me survive longer than 4 seconds Rito. Garen used to be something

if you had that much armor you probably didn't have a lot of health. anyway. armor is less effective against physical damage as there are a lot of items that kind of reduce it. black cleaver reduces armor by 30% if its stacked. you have some armor pen items. and you have the new last whisper which practically reduces this extra 300 armor you got to 150. however if you build MR against magic damage you see god working. not as much for ad for some reason.

Is having over 3K health not a lot these days? I dont know, usually I only play Garen to attempt to shut down a Riven. I built Randuins, Sunfire, and dead mans plate in terms of health/armor items plus a thornmail and was contemplating warmogs or a MR item depending on how the game went. But seeing I couldnt protect the squishies for the life of me, really no point. All you have to buy for MR on a Garen is banshees and spirit and its gg.

there is no way to tank against adcs. they still kill you and 1v1 you late game. fiora does true damage so all you can do is stay away from her. armor is very effective against riven. so idk what was the problem
