[ARAM] Replacement options for health regeneration

With the removal of Warmog's Armor, melee compositions seem to struggle more than before against high poke teams.

While Warmog's Armor was indisputably a broken item in ARAM, health regeneration served to counteract the already strong poke teams, which are so prevalent in ARAM thanks to dedicated accounts.

I therefore suggest that we, the ARAM community come up with ideas to create a health regeneration item that allows tanks to somewhat diminish the amount of poke damage they receive.

In my opinion the item should have the following:

  1. Be melee only, this will prevent Soraka, Veigar, and other ranged champions from abusing the item.

  2. Does not regenerate health to 100%, this in essence just means that it will not mitigate all poke damage, some damage must be taken, and not all of it should be recovered. This was a huge problem with Warmog's Armor, and we do not want to replicate it.

User Fondling Gems had a great idea, of using a mechanic similar to Tahm Kench, and Pyke's grey health. What are the pros and cons of this idea?

I for one, am a huge fan of this idea, and would like to further explore item options.

[Behemoth's Cuirass]

  • Melee Only *

Components: Spectre's Cowl (1200) + Crystalline Bracer (650) + Cloth Armor (300) + 850 gold = 3000 gold total.

Stats: 450 Health 150% Health Regen 20 Armor 40 Magic Resist

Unique Passive - Vigor: Scaling per level, 46%-100% of damage taken becomes grey health. After being out of combat for 8 seconds, consumes the grey health, restoring up to a max of 75% of grey health as health, based on missing health (max gained below 30% HP).

I like the idea How would this work with TahmKench ? Do you get double gray health? Would one override the other?

Honestly, they could have left item 3083 in if they just provided more and better items with the Grievous wounds ability. As it stands, there's only 3 finished items with it(item 3165 , item 3075 , item 3033 ). That would also help with the champs who can sustain with life steal.

Just seems like they took the easy way out and created a new problem.

Tanks are still one of the strongest (if not the very strongest) classes in Aram. The class that's really suffering is light fighters/skirmishers without high mobility, especially if they don't have a strong engage in their team.

While sustain is definitely part of the problem, another part is how hard it is to access the backline and how easy it is to kite in such a narrow map without high mobility/heavy engage. item 4001 was intended to alleviate this, but it's still hard to coordinate a proper engage without a heavy aoe tank.
