Champion.gg - Kayle Top Stats, Builds, Runes, Masteries and Counters

Greetings fellow summoners,

Hello, I am Recons, a lowly Silver 1 player, posting this thread to bring some visibility to an issue and hopefully gain some insight.

For the past few months I have been keeping track of champion win statistics and Kayle has been topping the charts, with the highest win percentage for quite some time. After some pondering, I came to the conclusion that her ultimate ability, although very much so part of her identity, needs some tweaking. Here are my two problems with Kayle's ability:

Kayle Intervention - Cost 0 RANGE: 900 COOLDOWN: 100 / 90 / 80 ACTIVE: Kayle bathes the target allied champion or herself in holy light, rendering them immune to all damage for a few seconds. DURATION: 2 / 2.5 / 3 Intervention is a self- and ally-targeted buff. Intervention has no cast time and does not interrupt Kayle's previous orders.

The first problem, Intervention has** NO COST **, that's right, no cost similar abilities like Ekko Chronobreak, or Taric Cosmic Radiance have a mana cost of 100.

Second, her ability has NO CAST TIME or delay whatsoever, it won't even cancel her previous orders. Unlike EkkoTaric who have an animation/delay which allows you to position yourself properly and/or disengage to wait out the ability.

I feel like the ability needs some sort of delay and cost, like other abilities of its type, this will increase the amount of counterplay and skill necessary to exploit this champion's strengths. My suggested change would be the addition of a mana cost, a .5 second delay, in which it is visible that Kayle is preparing this ability, and perhaps making the duration flat 3 seconds to counter-balance the nerf.

Although I understand that Kayle's kit is not very impressive without this ability, there is a reason why the champion has a 55% win percentage in Solo Queue. What do you guys think? Any Kayle mains have some insight on this, or perhaps any suggestions for a change?

Kayle's kit is very outdated by Riot standards. Amongst her kit there is only one aspect that is actually desirable to a team, and that is her Ultimate.

Win-rate is not comparative to play rate etc. Kayle's win rate is only high due to being played by almost solely mains, and the little data that is available otherwise is often skewered. Quinn has been sitting at a 51.5%+ win rate for almost a year now for the same reason. The reason why Kayle's ultimate lacks a cost is due to it being limited. Beyond the 2 - 3 seconds of Immunity, it is a singular cast ability unlike Tarics (Which can be applied up to 5 people), and lacks damage like Ekko's (Which is actually a very bad example as it does not provide Ekko immunity.)

The balancing team have attempted to nerf Kayle in the past, both with less damage on her E and her passive, and both nerfs resulted in her becoming instantly dumpstered. She's in a very delicate position atm, in that any Elo past Platinum she becomes almost unheard of, to the point of having non-existent play in Master and above.

If you were to nerf any aspect of the ability, it would be the CD.

Kayle's kit will be entirely reworked at some point, and until then it's better to not mess with a champion who by a lot of standards, is balanced, if not only due to an extremely linear and boring kit.

Nerfing Kayle at all would dumpster her and the only reason her winrate is as high as it is is because the only people who pick her are basically kayle one tricks.

  1. if she's mid: other champs out-burst her in most scenarios.
  2. if she's top, she's an easy gank when she shoves in or... you can 2v1 tower dive her by trading who has tower agro as long as you both have some cc -- what good is her ult when she's chain cc'd and dealing 0 damage? Anwer: it merely delays her death.
  3. She needs multiple items to be effective
  4. Trynd ult (no mana, no cast time), fizz troll pole/playful trickster (no cast time, much lower cd, doesn't require lvl 6)
  5. requires solid attack move skills to truly exploit her kit
  6. other spells (excluding her e) have unreasonably high mana cost for their value -- which is why they dropped the mana cost of her ult
  7. she's actually too squishy/weak when closed on as compared to other "fighters" champs
  8. she's more punishable via chain cc than most champs due to her low range even when using e -- she either sits outside your cc range but is also too far away to deal damage even with her e on, or she deals damage but is in range of your cc -- having to correctly use her ult to dodge your damage when you go in to cc her. If she doesn't ult before the first cc hits, she risks getting bursted before she can get out of cc chains to ult herself. If she ults herself right before the first cc hits, you can wait out her ult, then follow up with more cc and blow her up. So... she needs good peeling from teammates or she's kinda weak.

only reason Kayle is Top of the win rate charts is because she is hardly played: 0.51% compared to Lee Sin at 21.36 %.
