I went merc scimitar instead of bloodthirster because bard would always ult me ( adc ) and i tried my best to avoid it but it seems like unless you flash it or have a dash you get hit by it

Bards ult is a STASIS, not a CC effect. STASIS means being unable to do anything for a period of time. Mercurial/QSS cleanses ALL NEGATIVE EFFECTS, stasis is not a negative effect.

It would be broken if you could QSS your own Zhonyas, because every AP champion would then have Troll Pole. You could use your Zhonyas to interrupt a targeted ult like Vi/Caitlyn, or dodge essentially anything like Alistar/Yasuo/Nidalee/Malphite/etc. Immediately afterwards, you could just QSS out of it and move along instead of being caught out of position after the full stasis.
A champion might buy QSS if Malz is on the enemy team, but they wouldn't be using this combo for Malz since it would be backwards. If the enemy was something like Malphite/Vi/Malz, then it would be perfectly reasonable to have both. The QSS counters Malz, the Zhonyas counters Malph/Vi, and if you have both items off cooldown you could use the Zhonyas/QSS combo.
You could also just Zhonyas and then use QSS unpredictably early (between 1-2 seconds into stasis) to throw off the enemy's timing and then escape. Imagine Ahri using Zhonyas during her ult. Instead of being able to set up a near-frame-perfect trap/stun/root/execute when it ends, she could QSS early and dash away.
