The tank meta is disgusting, tanks are unhealthy, and cc is overladen in their kits
Complaint rant incoming, Oh God tldr below:
I'm actually quitting League of Legends, at-least temporarily, because of just how linear and static it is, i had a 75% win rate up until the tank patches, and just played a promo where even though we played better, got more objectives, and won our lanes mostly the enemy team won in champ select by picking Maokai, Renekton, and Alistar with all stone-plates. I've seen a game where both the enemy Yasuo and Jax built thornmail and Randuins, and we weren't even full ad, i was playing Vel'koz, i love this game, but this is not my game, not at all the league of legends i used to play, only tanks can even dive back-lines efficiently anymore because they are the only one's capable of getting there without getting cc chained to death by point and click damaging abilities used by guess who? Other tanks.
With anything else that wasn't built at-least off-tank it's a coin-toss if you'll even get an ability off in order to reach their backline. When i can't play proper assassins besides talon(for him being broken reasons) and any high damaging diver that isn't anti-tank may as well be garbage unless they have invisibility or invulnerability to survive the cc and burst of enemy tanks. (Both very unhealthy mechanics.) When i see tanks blowing up the backline while assassins and divers have to try to peel the ad and die trying because their mobility is negated it makes me actually physically sick. I've seen more Maokais, Chogaths and Sejuainis dive our adc and blow them up then i have Yasuos, Zeds, Ekkos, or Pantheons. I have yet to have a game in a while where i thought the enemy played well and outdid even the baboons on our team in like a dozen games since tank meta started. They just stat check tank unload their kits on us with absolutely no premeditation or thought period.
At first with lethality buffs and crit being good i thought this meta was finally going to be appropriately diverse, and the different types of carries you see are, but regardless, the team with the most tanks wins because a 3 man front-line that can stone-plate, deal damage, and dive our back-line will always win over teams with one tank and better players on carries. Why do you think Janna is so good now? She's like the only champion that can help a adc survive a 3 man back-line dive by tank champions. Just look at high elo assassin and diver players right now, considering they don't have any engage or supportive qualities to give to a tank comp. LL stylish has fallen out of challenger on all accounts.
Now i think everyone knows and can agree that tanks are overly strong right now, their itemization got over-buffed, and people are actually just abusing them for elo, and i know people who think they have to play tank junglers now, even though they hate it and would much rather play their old mains like vi or Khazix. The problem is that tanks should be low risk low reward, whereas assassins, carries, divers and burst mages should be high risk, high reward. What we have instead is low risk high reward tanks, marksmen who are too strong because they can sit comfortably behind their front-line, especially self sufficient ones like xayah, Sivir. and Draven are seeing crazy win rates and pick rates currently because they fit very comfortably with tanks and are harder to dive. Meanwhile assassins and divers are seeing very high risk (almost suicide) mid to low reward in mid to late game team-fights because highly mobile overly cc laden tanks will almost always be more relevant and could just lock them down regardless of how strong they are with the press of w and no skill-shots. When tanks are filling the roll better than others of peel, diving the enemy back-line, engage, single target damage later on, lock-down, and damage soaking, then they need to be tuned down, you should pick tanks for a strong cc engage onto the other enemy front-line and to peel your back-line from the enemy front-line, not to be a jack, no king of all trades and do everything at once.
The itemization needs nerfed, Maokai needs hard nerfed, stone-plate needs nerfed, and overall CC especially that of tanks needs reduced in some way, i like to play the game, not be stunned for 30 minutes straight, or just to point and click stun people for 30 minutes either. The turn that this meta took once people realized how hard riot was working to buff Chogath, Sejuani, Maokai, Alistar, and literally anything that builds tank is ridiculous, tank players could have bronze game mechanics and still keep positive win ratios and climb as all that's needed to play tanks is that you aren't brain-dead and can jump into enemy teams. You don't need to win lane, just don't lose it, and just by building tank you out-scale 90% of the roster. And with tanks preventing most forms of melee from playing the game at all you get a meta of 3 tanks and 2 ranged carries from the mid and bot lane being the ideal team comp. EWW.
TLDR: Tanks are too strong, blah blah blah classic game-play section complaints. But they are, the buffs and increase in cc they have gotten is way overboard. They're low risk high reward and you shouldn't lose a game in champion select in solo queue by the amount of tanks on either side assuming the enemy aren't brain-dead.
SIDE NOTE: I just had a Katarina rush Sunfire cape against me midlane, then into gunblade, steraks, rylais GA. She did insane damage and was tankier than our chogath. wtf is this pussy meta. kms why am i making this post i should just leave league of legends like i've been wanting to but not wanting to for 2 years.
