Riot actually confirmed this to be the case.

Their entire goal when creating a match making system was to achieve maximum equality of outcome. They considered it a feature, that the match making system should rig each game, such that there was always a 50/50 chance of a win/loss. They thought that meant it was as fair as it could be.

Obviously, the opposite is true. A fair system would be one that tries to match you with like skilled players and which pits you against like skilled players, not to simply rig each game such that your chances of winning are always 50/50.

That's not the same thing.

But what do you expect from a company who thinks that it's perfectly OK to change their company focus to "fostering diversity and inclusion".

This is only one of the reasons why everyone in the community needs to be very concerned with the direction Riot is going, or League will simply die.

Thanks for commenting.

I had to read your post a few times to actually understand what you were trying to say, and I agree, those two things are NOT the same thing. Could you show me a link where riot admitted to this?

On the last riot pls vid (https://youtu.be/KV0O1Be8b6Q), at ~1:40, he talks about "individual agency" and comments on changes they made in game to balance this, but leaves out match making completely. 4 months past that, I feel like my individual contribution to the game isn't in a "fun" state. In the vid he also mentions that riot is "monitoring the rate of snow baling", but I am not talking about snow baling per say.

After reading your comment, I think the issue is perhaps in how the players are picked for each individual match.

if equality of outcome is built in, how can a smurf rise back to where they were with high win %?

the whole point of the thread is to say that, despite the effort, i am gona end up with 50% win rate if I play enough games, as the distribution of feeders/smurf will equal itself out.

this is not fun!

Lets do some math: say everyone on your team and enemy team is 1200 elo (low silver), but you got a unlucky game and every guy on your team plays like 1100 elo and enemy still 1200 since you are one part of 5 you would have to play at 1600 elo to have a 50% win chance which I think high gold elo or maybe plat level, so yeah some games will be very hard or even impossible to carry. Same goes if you play bad but everyone on your team plays a bit above their elo it doesn't take too much for them to carry you if your the only one that's playing bad.
