Umm...did riot forget that the rockets are AOE and deal 110% AD and can crit?!? The pros of the rockets outweigh the cons by far.

which is why they are lowering jinx's attack speed by 15% when she uses fishbones

Ummm....did you forget that minigun has like 50% more attackspeed now and can also crit?

Rockets Pros: high range can crit 110% ad Cons: Use mana much lower attackspeed

minigun Pros: higher attackspeed no mana usage can crit Cons: Low range

Plus lets do the math. Lets say you have 250 AD as jinx and 1.5 AS.

If you can crit and have IE then within 5 seconds, the following attacks will happen:

With rockets: The new build is -15% attack speed so 1.27 attacks per second with rockets. So she can pull of 6.35 attacks-lets just round that to 6. She can pull off 6 attacks in 5 seconds if she uses rockets with 1.5 AS. Lets say 4 of those rockets crit then thats 250x4x2.5x1.1=2750 damage+250x2=500. 2750+500=3250 damage in 5 seconds with rockets.

With minigun: She gets 70% extra attack speed at max rank. So thats instead.....the max cap lol. 2.5 attacks per second but just in case my calculations went wrong, lets say 2.25 attacks per second. So thats a total of 11.25 attacks per second. A lot more than 6 attacks lol. Lets say 8 of them crit. so 250x2.5x8=5000 damage with just the 8 attacks alone. Then we add on the 3 attacks that didn't crit. So 250x2.5x3=1875 damage. 5000+1875=6875 total damage with the minigun.

So to summarize, within 5 seconds, rockets would've pulled off a total of 3250 damage provided they all hit. Within 5 seconds, the minigun would've pulled off a total of 6875 damage provided they all hit.

So I think that riot did their job when they said "rockets are intended to be a safer option that offer far less dps" last I checked, 3250 is definitely lower than 6875.

Feel free to correct any errors in this but I think I've made my point.

Too bad the change won't affect her laning phase where she can poke anybody with Fishbones while doesn't even have to worry about mana. Sure it's a nerf for teamfights but in lane it won't do too much.

Actually, it depends. If she keeps the minigun stacks or if they fall off immediately. If they fall of immediately, she'll only be able to get 1 attack for every 1 of the enemy. But if it keeps going, early game, she'll run out of mana and the enemy will get more attacks on her.

Plus, if you haven't noticed already, if a jinx keeps using rockets to farm and poke, I notice she runs out of mana rather fast. When I was facing a jinx, I saw she only had like 70 mana left and thought (ok so she has one w and 2 rockets left). She used a w to poke me and then she was done. Just using minigun. Unfortunately, I think a gank came in and she got a few assists. But without the ganks, earlygame she runs out of mana fast and now, with the attack speed nerfs, if she keeps poking, it'll be bad news for her.

So yeah, the nerfs will affect her lol.

Ya cause those rockets only hit one person amirite?

IcyPepper1 votes

They cost mana, they're supposed to deal a little more damage than minigun, but don't offer as much single-target sustained damage.

shrugs

ZileanUltJesusOP1 votes

That's cool and everything but after laning phase minigun is only used on turrets. There is absolutely no reason to use minigun in a team fight at all. Rockets are 10x better and in this meta you very rarely 1 v 1 as an ADC without someone else present and if there is more than one person rockets are almost always better.

In other words there are way more benefits of rockets then mini-gun.

You're calculating in a 1v1 scenario in which minigun is obviously the greater choice. Why not calculate if rockets hits 2 or more people and then crit on top of that?? I love how people never include survivability when doing this. If you stayed in minigun during a teamfight which has 525 range, the probability of you being able to stay at that range and consecutively autoattack is MUCH less than when you're at 700 range with lower attackspeed but able to hit multiple people per attack. Rockets would perfectly be fine if they didn't fucking crit. She's too versatile for the damage that she is able to output.

well then the obvious choice is don't stay so close together. It's like a malph combo with a yas. Don't stay so close together and you won't all die at the same time. Some champs prefer one target, others prefer a lot. Jinx happens to be one that prefers when you guys stick together with rockets. If you split up, she can be focusing the tank or smth while you come in, stun her, and then burst her. No more Jinx after that. And then her minigun is so low range that any mage or anyone with range tbh can 1v1 her from afar.

But you don't all wanna be hit by rockets? Don't stay so close together then. Simple solution. Converge if you want cause then you'll all be together but not together at the same time lol.

Edit: I think you're just salty after going against a Jinx or smth lol. She has clear weaknesses and strengths like every other champ. Use them/Abuse them and you're fine.

StankBootyHoe1 votes

I'm not salty at all. Don't you see what you're saying? You're telling everyone to somehow stay 300 units away from each other while converging on the enemy's carries lol. You're giving this fantasy counterplay in a game where certain champions need protecting and peel. I'm not saying that everyone is always grouped up for jinx, but that scenario happens far too often for her to be able to abuse her power like that. Even in pro play there have been many 3 - 5 man Yasuo ults, Gnar ults and so on.

Of course she has weaknesses but they are negligible in comparison to what she brings to a team. There is a problem when an immobile "hyper" carry excels in the early, middle and late game.

Yes, 2 come from the lane, 3 come from the sides. It's not that hard. She can't get all of you with her rockets. If you seriously can't get everyone to not be hit by the rockets, then something's wrong. I'm S5 and I can say that there are easy ways to deal with Jinx. Will she dominate mid/lategame if she gets fed? Yes, she'll hurt, anyone will.

If you can't get your entire team to not be hit by Jinx's rockets, then thats your problem, not Jinx's. It's like all staying in one spot for brand and then complaining that he's op because you guys can't be together without his ult, w, and e devastating you. STOP BEING TOGTHER. ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD.

idk what kind of jinxes you play with or against, but the jinxes I've seen and played as never excel in the early game. If she's excelling in the early game then something is wrong with your bot lane/yourself as adc/your support (I can imagine the last but it shouldn't happen that often). Jinx simply cannot all-in the enemy adc earlygame without any help. And with all the supports we have, your support/your bot lane should be engaging first against a jinx. Alistar can cc her for a good 1.5s. If blitz grabs jinx (or anyone for that matter), they're dead. If Leona e's to the jinx then stuns her, thats another good 2s of cc if not more.

All in the Jinx early, there's a reason she has no mobility till she gets a kill or assist. If you allin her at lv 6 or smth, you should get a kill as she simply cannot get away. Unless its a vayne in the current meta, if you expect to farm and then beat the Jinx lategame, good luck. It won't work. She scales hard. Don't let her snowball, and you'll be fine. The same can be said of any champ.

Don't forget the AoE critical strike. In a team fight she won't be doing 3250 to one person, she'll be doing it to a good chunk of the team from a safer distance than with her minigun. Of course you'd have to factor in the armor of the various team members being hit, But the AoE part of the rockets is one of the big selling points.

Icestar11863 votes

The rockets are AOE, but the minigun has much greater attack speed.

disregardable2 votes

Yeah, so you sit back and your entire front line gets wiped out because you couldn't kill Darius fast enough. Fishbones isn't inherently better than the minigun. If your team isn't very ahead, the assassination power from minigun could make a fight if you position properly.

StankBootyHoe1 votes

I love how the enemy Darius was fed enough to solo kill the whole team lol. But please use some logic when saying stuff like this

Shosuko2 votes

Downvote because what you're saying is not the entire story.

They are designed to be a poke style, more bursty but NOT sustained. While they were designed to be this way, they were also very good sustained damage as all you traded was the mini gun attack speed passive... So there were very few points where the mini gun was the better choice.

The mana cost was supposed to be a gating factor, which is why they didn't have a bigger draw back before, but by now it's obvious that the rockets are too powerful.

StankBootyHoe1 votes

The only time minigun is the better option is for clearing towers, 1v1 and quick skirmishes. Besides that, rockets were the way to go. It's been obvious since the beginning that the rockets were too powerful, but Jinx became one of riot favorite ADC so of course they've overlooked it until now.

You do understand that by saying it like this is like saying "The only time rockets are the better option is in clearing, team fights, and when you want to harass the enemy. Besides that pow-pow is the way to go."

Only listing the strengths can make anything sound op

IcyPepper1 votes

So did you stop reading after that sentence?

Pretty sure there was more to it than that.

StankBootyHoe1 votes

"...than the riskier minigun. They should be stronger for poke but much less about sustained DPS on a single target (unless you have a couple Get Excited! stacks)."

So it took riot 2 years actually to finally come to this conclusion after she has stayed in the pro scene and ranked play dominating the bot lane since her release?

IcyPepper1 votes

Thresh I've seen worse.

Wait until the marksman update. Trust me, Jinx is far from dominant there. Even ran a juggermaw comp and kicked her ass handily.

LeviathanElite1 votes

The rockets do so much damage lol. its insane

BattleOxe1 votes

Well, only situation where I can imagine minigun is better are 1vs1 duels. But as ADC, you aren't supose to do that so...
