Vel'koz winrate tanked after 6.9. Are there any plans to help him out in future patches?

Vel'koz's winrate dropped from around 53% before the patch to around 47% after 6.9. Considering the mage changes were supposed to "help" mages, this seems like the opposite of what it was supposed to do. A big part of the problem is the loss of some of his ult utility because of being restricted to using it in combos, and the other part being the hit to his wave clear and thus safety, and the more expensive build paths now that he needs AP, slowing his power spike.

Are there any plans to bring back maybe ult procing his passive or upping the wave clear ability of his W back to what it used to be atleast? I think that's really all he needs to be in a good spot. Right now if you played old Velkoz you're definitely probably feeling like a significantly weaker and more limited version of your past self.

Ever considered it's due to a flux of players who never played VK before?

Also, items were changed too. Looking at Vel'koz (when he basically received huge buffs to teamfighting) in a vacuum is pointless.

I still get Annies in plat that rush Abyssal despite it being nerfed in almost every way.

That's correct. Velkoz' play rate doubled in 6.9. And VELKOZ is being buffed right now in the pbe. Honestly, I don't feel weaker. I like the VELKOZ rework.

I played Velkoz to get to Diamond. His team fight is IN NO WAY buffed from what it was before. His single target damage was buffed. Team fight got signficantly worse.

He feels dumbed down. His range of opportunities shrinked heavily in my opinion. He is my favourite champ in the game and honeslty when i play him now i feel like im trying to run fast with a crippled leg. I'm still getting good stats and games with him but i just don't enjoy playing him in his current state. And i don't care even if i stomped with him as long as i don't feel like i am actually playing Vel'koz.

I just want my old Vel'koz back so bad. Since riot changed him i feel so much less motivated to play the game. He was the champ i was the best with. I just really don't get it why all this had to happen.

Maybe I'll just pick up Fizz. Because if Vel'koz w isn't fun to play against Fizz sure is.

Or I'll just pick up a single player game so that when finally i become decent with my character i dearly love the developers can't fuck it all up for me.

Vel'Koz Life Form Disintegration Ray (R) damage increased to 550/750/950 from 500/725/950

I'm not gonna say that'll fix him, but know Riot has their eye(s) on him.

They buffed it again today:

"Vel'Koz Lifeform Disintegration Ray (R) damage increased to 550/800/1050 from 550/750/950"

IMO it just needs the flexibility back that it had before by applying his passive. The restriction to combo only really limited its uses IMO, buffing the numbers slightly isn't gonna make it as good as it was before without passive stacks.

The way that I see this is that people are trying Vel out and since not many people know how to play him correctly, its understandable that they'll lose most matches as with any other times that they try a new champ.

Also, Rito did help Vel by changing his passive and Ult damage. I used to run Vel with 50 Ap at lv18 but I noticed that the damage output of my E and W were reduced by quite a bit. I've since then changed my runes for straight Ap and it balanced it out so that the waveclear is better. Like his ult's passive is a lot better with the damage and I see what your saying about the combo restriction but its honestly worth it as long as you know how to land your Q and W... btw, Vel is skillshot orientated...

Honestly, I can see what you mean by the expensive cost of items but like most people will buy expensive items so I really don't see a problem there. Besides, say that you gank another lane, you can use your Q's indication passive to surprise someone and easily secure a kill with the true damage from your ult, kills give gold. If you still feel that the costs are high, simply get "Bandit" from the Cunning tree.

Imo, we Vel'Koz players should adapt and learn to this new play style that Rito is giving us. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

There's not really much to learn tho, it's not like his kit changed. Just do ult in combos instead or raw. WOW SUCH CHANGE, VERY DIFFERENT CHAMP.

I'm not sure how people can't see that losing flexibility on an ability is a nerf to how good a character is. Versatility is really important.
