If you hate Yasuo, come play on Twisted Treeline! (Or, 13 reasons to play on TT)

Twisted Treeline 3v3 (not talking about hexakill) is the hidden gem of LoL. Seriously, it has a lot of nice things about it that set it apart from Summoner's Rift. I personally enjoy it a lot more and have been playing it almost exclusively since we got back Ranked Flex 3v3 at the beginning of Preseason. Queue times have been better lately but I still think this game mode is a bit overlooked and just want to tell everyone how it's awesome.

So, without further ado, here are 8 reasons why Twisted Treeline is great:

  1. If you hate Yasuo, or Zed, or Fizz, or Rengar, or any assassin, come play Twisted Treeline! The meta is very tank-oriented and assassins don't do well. (I'll come clean, this one is mainly for farming upvotes, b/c who doesn't like to bash Yasuo?)

  2. If you like it when you know where the jungler is, come play Twisted Treeline! Many games don't even have a jungler, and when there is one, the jungle is so small that your team's jungler will spend more of his/her time keeping track of the enemy jungler than they will farming.

  3. If you like it when helping your teammates pays off, come play Twisted Treeline! Since each fight can only have a maximum of 3 champs on each side, your going to your teammates' lane is much more helpful. Even a 3-man gank on top can turn into a 2+tower vs 3 easily.

  4. If you like being able to get to your teammates in time to help them, come play Twisted Treeline! The lanes are close enough together that with just a little bit of foresight you can countergank & be there for your lane-mate.

  5. If you like to have an actual chance to come back from a losing game, come play Twisted Treeline! It's easier, in my experience, to turn an early-game disadvantage into a late-game eventual win when there are only 3 players snowballing against you instead of 5.

  6. If you like brush-camping, come play Twisted Treeline! The lack of wards (everyone only gets an Arcane Sweeper with a 90-second cooldown) means that facechecking is a little more common and there are even more awesome "gotcha!" moments than usual!

  7. If you like having Deathcap & Zhonya's combined into a single item (Wooglet's Witchcap), come play Twisted Treeline! I'm admittedly not entirely sure why they did this, but it makes for lots more nice escapes by mages from would-be assassins.

  8. If you like to play Brand and blow up the entire world, come play Twisted Treeline! The constant 3v3 fights with everyone in very close quarters are perfect opportunities for Brand's spells to hit multiple people. Seriously, he rocks!

  9. If you like playing Teemo or Jhin, with their constant mini-wards, come play Twisted Treeline! There are no wards so any traps you can place are super-effective.

  10. If you like killing huge spidery things instead of dragons and barons, come play Twisted Treeline! Its name is Vilemaw and it's kinda awesome.

  11. If you liked Dominion with its area-capturing dynamic, or you like having vision of the enemy jungle, come play Twisted Treeline! Whenever you win a skirmish or teamfight you have the chance to punish the enemy by capturing their altar, which gives you a cool team buff as well as vision into their jungle.

  12. If you like using spells often and dislike mana problems, come play Twisted Treeline! Everyone on the map gets bonus mana regen.

  13. If you like LoL but want to play a game in under an hour, come play TT!

But i'm a ADC/Supp main D:

What could I play?

I actually have a few Champs I picked up from playing 3v3 Ranked Teams with some friends a long time ago. It one of the reasons i can play Darius now. Sry Darius haters. Though TT is fun. I might get back into since it has Ranked Solo now (i mean its "technically" flex but at least its like a duo +1 vs a team of 3 and not a duo and 3 solos Vs SKT

there is one small little thing you are missing out:

TT sucks

they removed blackfire torch and they removed the main reason to play tt for me...

Are Jayce, Ryze, gnar, jax, and bard viable? I'm interested!

its especially fun since most melees are useless since you got no room to fight.

As a former TT player I can tell you, Yasuo is a top tier pick as long as he doesn't get to lane against Darius.

He was even stronger back when you could get the item 1038-equivalent of item 3031-equivalent in parts of item 1036 + item 1051 + ~400 gold, but still.

In my experience, it can be pretty difficult to come back from a bad early, especially if you like playing adcs. As an adc, you have to build differently if you want to succeed, especially since the change to LVDP and removal of Sanguine blade.

Ah the good old Twisted Treeline! When I started playing LoL, I mostly played Coop vs AI, because I didn't knew much about the game, like what items should I buy on which champions and when or what abilities do all the different champions have or about the different champion classes and roles etc. But they started getting too easy, so I tried some normal 5v5 games and oh boy...I hated it! I was forced into roles I wasn't very familiar with and lost my lanes a lot due to more experienced enemies, which I than was blamed (and probably reported) for by my team... back than I liked Rammus a lot so I picked him when I got top, but had to play against champions that were way better designed for top and stood no chance against them. I also was forced to play support a lot, but I didn't knew anything about the support job, as adc I had no idea about my role and I also wasn't really good on csing. I also had 0 experience on jungling and midlane I got stomped on by experienced players, so most games just weren't fun at all...and than I tested the Twisted Treeline and loved it! There was no real meta, so I could play what I want, whitout having to know any thing about roles or things like warding and jungling, because these things didn't really existed there! I had a lot better games, simply because I was able to play the champs I liked and had the most experience with. So I didn't lost my lanes that often and even when I did, than it was a lot easier to get back into the game. For a whole season I only played on Twisted Treeline, and learned a lot about the champion abilites and itemization, until a friend made me play 5v5 with him, where I was than a lot better at. Today I mostly play 5v5 and I enjoy them, but if it wasn't for TT I may have quit LoL back then.

Why would I do that when I can just quit

Who would you say are the best bans? I am pretty aware of which roles go where, and who would be better at those (I've seen tier lists). But which 3-6 champs would you say are easily permaban status on that map?

When i first started playing league back in mid 2010, i use to play exclusively TT. I stopped playing TT and started playing summoner's rift. Just reading the reason, i'm sold to go back.

I'm so sick of the direction riot is going with this game, and how little they seem to actually care about strategic gameplay and only care now for flashy big hits that shoutcaster can yell about [slayer-jinx-unamused]

.14. If you like to see how Riot doesn't give a fuck about bots farming IP, come to TT! Limited edition! better hurry before Riot removes TT!

Take my damn upvote! >:)

OurLestrade12/2/2016, 10:55:02 PM1 votes

Shaco jungle makes TT hurt for me. All he does is spam boxes in the centre buff and stop your jungler from being able to really do anything :l

Voidas112/3/2016, 12:34:23 AM1 votes

Rammus is awesome on TT check my match history if you don't believe me.

Umbra Ionia12/3/2016, 11:26:11 AM1 votes

Emmm yasuo is god tier with support so that´s not a reason xD
