Chalice Changes

So, I read the patch notes, and I like a lot of what I've seen. My concern is this:

According to the notes, chalice has been redesigned to offer laners a form of interchangeable mana/health sustain depending on your needs. It specifically mentions laners, not just supports.

Upon reading the notes about Athenes, it has been retooled to be specifically for supports, especially sustain type supports with heals/shields.

This was done to remove overlap with Morellos.

Now I have some questions:

1: Since chalice only builds into Athene's, and Mikaels, both of which are geared towards supports, what reason would a non-support have to build chalice?

2: Doesn't this just trade overlap with Morellos, for overlap with Mikaels since they are both chalice items geared towards supports that offer a boost to healing power?

I might buy chalice early on anivia and just sell it around 20-30 minutes. It would help a lot until you have some roa stacks.

item 3174 will give 40 AP i don't see many mids taking that. Plus its passive is obviously meant for supports.

not sure why this is getting downvoted. It's a legit question.
