Mid or ADC as the hardest roles in the game.

Just a possible point of discussion: ADC has the highest skill floor, Mid has the highest skill ceiling.

Support and jungle are the hardest roles in the game to perform effectively.

Both are very map awareness heavy, and have very heavy influences across all the map, very counter pick heavy, and dictate the entire pace of the game.

ADC is the most mechanically intensive class in the game.

jungle is the hardest role. top next hardest role. then support then mid then adc

there are only mechanical demands placed on adc's the rest of the thinking is really handled for them by the team, and there is so much overlap between the mechanics of the champions that it's a non-starter, you learn how to play ashe and well done you can now play 90% of adc's.

mid can be stale mated at the drop of a hat because the lane is so short, i don't even know how this could be mentioned as possible hardest role aside from whatever attention a good jungler would give it.

support because your performance is tied to someone elses performance and if they turn off their brain for a bit then you suffer if you're unable to keep them safe.

top has the most variety of picks to deal with so frankly it requires the most knowledge to be successful in mechanically and there are steep punishments for not passing the minimum requirements in lane due to it's length.

jungle is currently the most knowledge intensive as good junglers know how every lane matchup plays out, and they see a wild variety of mechanics that they have to execute (taliyah, rek'sai, ivern, lee, kayn etc) to be successful

Disagree with the original poster. Adc is in my opinion one of the lowest. Top and Mid are the highest skill ceiling in my opinion. Top requires a completely different skillset overall from the other lanes. It is a combination of macro, you often farm completely isolated from your team mates. You do things completely on your own, which requires using your brain a lot more than the other lanes. You have to be aware of how team compositions should interact with each other, sometimes your comp just smashes their comp as an example, Fiora/tryndamere top are split pushers who generally suck at team fighting. Playing a tank, force a fight anywhere and it is basically a 5v4. You need to be aware of when someone is strong and who is weak. Those particular skills dictate whether you can engage on a team or whether you need to delay for item spikes. You have to learn far more lane matchups than any other lane. For example as a top laner, I typically played against 115 different matchups as a rough estimate in a typical year when laning top regularly. As a mid laner, around 80. As a adc, around 40-50, including things like when Morde, Ziggs, and other assorted champs. You gotta learn how to 2v1 farm. You got to understand when to giveup your lane, to win elsewhere. Other lanes don't understand that.

Bot lane as an example thinks the game revolves around them. They certainly play like it, completely oblivious that ,maybe, they should play around the jungler, maybe they should play around the top laner, or mid laner every once in awhile. Yet, when it comes down to basic things like winning lane, taking tower, when you tell them to flip to top lane because they won lane and took their tower, they refuse run it down mid and siege like idiots. They love to go down in farm and levels because they refuse to do basic things. When what you were trying to do macro wise was have them take top tower, pick up rift herald, and use that to smash in mid while letting your top and mid laners setup for split pushing, push and roam strategies and such. Have them ward up the baron area, hookup split pushers with vision and teleport locations, but, that sort of thing is just too hard for them.

In terms of mechanics I'd say

ADC ---------> Jungle -> Mid -> Top -> Support

In terms of Macro I'd say

ADC + Support -> Jungle + Mid -> Top

As toplaner who also plays mid and support, i consider toplane the hardest because it feels more frustrating than other two. Support is easy to play but hard to master (especially the very important macro part) Mid offers you the opportunity to roam to get free kills and snowball Toplane is just hoping your team wont do badly, that your jungler will help or the ennemy jungler won't gank. Also fighting ranged champions as a melee is actually the worst feeling i can get from this game. However toplane is the most fun role when you're fed, because your champ isnt a mage that one shots everything or an adc that presses left click over and over again.

This is a pretty subjective post, I don't think there is any facts about how one role is harder then another, they all have their easy and hard moments.

They're all pretty equally as hard as you have to understand different things to do well with them, bit in terms of the two options presented i'd give mid the edge as the hardest. ADC has an entire class dedicated to helping them plus they don't have to worry about priority anywhere near as much and don't have to roam.

Jungle has the highest skill floor, no question. If anything, adc has the lowest skill floor, with rare exceptions because champs like Tryndamere Nasus exist, or alternatively if your adc is like Vayne Kalista. But for someone first-timing a role, champs like MissFortune Caitlyn have really obvious goals and playstyles.

Something having a high skill floor means that something is easy.
