Keys, how do they work Now?

I remember reading that the new keys would be awarded linked to the new honor system. However I played League for about 8 hours straight last night, (played a lot of ARAM with my sister and her boyfriend) and was awarded honor quite often. I even got 3+ honors in a couple of the games. I have yet to see any keys though after about 16 straight games.

My question is this: when and where are the keys awarded to us? Is there some kind of algorithm it follows? I'm sitting here with 6 chests and 0 keys screaming on the inside!

also i think it takes into account if you are with a premade and honor each other ( ya know a good ole friendly jerk circle) instead of a random player honoring you ....

if you and your buddy honor each other after every game to try to "boost your honor/rewards" it kinda picks up on that

There is 3 types of honors 1. stayed cool 2. great shotcalling 3. gg<3 When u collect 9-14 of 1 of these u will get 1 key fragment. The more honors u receive the more progress u make. Then u lvl up your honor rank. On lvl 3 i think that u get 2 key frags and lvl 4 1 key. Im not saying that this is 100% true but its how it worked for me :D

So I am not sure which one it is, but I have two theories.

  1. Riot has a system where if you are being an honorable player they just mass drop certain amounts of keys to those honorable players.
  2. My second theory is that they is a meter of progression on the honor level and when you hit a certain point on that meter you are honored keys once Riot is available to give them to you (which is like 3-10 mins after a game).

I have gotten rewards up to 4 keys at one time as a "gift" from Riot. I personally believe it is my second theory and not sure if these theories are even correct. I just like having fun making theories.
