So is there a delay in Malzahar's R that isn't mentioned in the tooltip?

Every single time I use it, the "Suppression" message goes up, yet the opponent is always able to land a stun or Flash out of the W I threw down anyways.

Crowd control does not cancel actions if it lands after the cast is considered "complete". It can be aggravating against skills that have a cast time shorter than their animation/wind up.

i.e.: If Ahri lands Charm on Fiddlesticks after Crowd Storm finishes channeling but before the blink happens, the blink will still happen and the end result will be a Charmed Crow Storming Fiddlesticks slowly walking back towards Ahri.

Flash is instant so it should always resolve before any targeted spells do. But it does not make spell fizzle.

I can't tell, is there even a cast time? Usually when I think cast time, there's some animation to show for it.

Yeah, Malzahar's ult has a short cast time (.25 seconds I think). So quick reactions can get somebody away from the pool you set, like you've noticed. To get around that, I generally try to "fish" with my silence, and either bait their mobility to dodge it, or just get them while they're silenced and can't dodge.

The harder thing is when they have delayed CC, and get it off during the cast (which then interrupts the channel). I always hate laning against Annie because of that - if we both try to go in on each other at the same time, it's likely her stun will connect after I've started my ult.

Would some sort of super-quick missile animation showing his eye beams shooting from his eyes towards his enemies make the cast-time a little more clearer? Or atleast tell the caster that his R does in fact have a cast time and isn't just an insta-laser that forms between him and the target?

For the longest time I thought there was some glitch or something until today.
