Jungle is one of the most snowballed roles, and it feels terrible for junglers.
With your lane, you are dependent on only one other successful lane, your jungler, having an impact. You can still farm and gain both xp and CS under turret even while under gank pressure.
With jungle, you're essentially not only dependent on being able to 1v1/skirmish the enemy jungler out of invading your jungle or river, but you rely on all lanes to keep prio so you can even contest river, and so that your camps on your side of the jungle don't get invaded and taken. Once your camps are gone, that's a massive xp setback on you as a jg. There's no gaining that xp deficit back short of stealing xp from your other lanes.
It feels truly awful, because as a jg there is simply no catching up and farming safely even in unfavorable match ups, you just keep falling further and further behind in levels, and that translates into even less impact as a jungler for your team.
It's an incredibly helpless situation, and honestly why I think so many junglers are so dependent on successful ganking to stay relevant, because there are some games where you simply are completely starved out of your camps, and as a jg you are so utterly dependent on them to stay up in levels.
It's really not fun being constantly 1 level under enemy laners, making you unable to contest invades by them on your jungle and totally reliant on your lanes preserving priority for you, but the invade by the enemy lane also utterly benefits the enemy jungler as they will start to outlevel you and can freely snowball the invades with a level lead.
