Does new Hunter's Machete proc off of Kayle's E?

Basically title. I was playing Kayle jungle today and was going for the Atk Spd Devourer build. Since E usually counts as an auto I figured I would take the Hunter's Machete instead of the talisman to make best use of my attack speed. I couldn't really tell if the Nail effect was procing on my attacks with E. Can anyone tell me if they've tried this and had a similar experience? I'm a scrub jungler so it could be working fine, just wondering
