Kayle and Morgana - where do they fit into this new lore direction?

hey folks!

Now I know the recent changes to canon for League are controversial, so i'm not creating this post to debate Riot's direction or whether it was the right choice. That said, since they've eliminated the institute of war/fields of justice stuff from canon, there are gonna have to be some changes to champion lores in order to reflect the new story.

They've started this already with champs like Nasus and Renekton being shifted to better play into the Shurima event currently occurring. With this in mind I submit two champions who immediately come to mind as needing an update to their lores: Morgana and Kayle.

To be clear, I love the sibling rivalry story between them. I'm not saying that any part of their core story should be changed. However, both Lore's utilize the League and the Institute of War pretty heavily as a means of justifying their presence in game. In fact, the summoners of the league (who are no longer canon) seem to be the primary reason Morgana has any amount of powers to begin with:

"Ten years ago, Kayle's war against evil was nearly won... until her rebellious sister Morgana, a pariah amongst their people, suddenly gained powerful new allies: magicians of a hitherto unknown world called Runeterra. Morgana traded servitude to a number of the summoners in Runeterra's League of Legends for powerful new abilities that, if mastered, threatened to bring Kayle and her people to their knees. To save her world, Kayle had no choice but to make a pact with the League herself. She approached the leader of the League, High Counselor Reginald Ashram, with a deal of her own. In exchange for a thousand years of Kayle's service, Ashram halted all League interference on Kayle's world. With Ashram's disappearance five years ago, Kayle has new causes on Valoran: find out who or what caused Ashram to disappear, defeat her sister Morgana upon the Fields of Justice, and bring her own brand of justice to the League of Legends."

Morgana's lore has similar issues - she is summoned to Valoran much in the same way Nasus was in his original lore, and then gains her immense powers:

*"As the time approached when the two would meet in what could be their final conflict, Morgana was suddenly summoned to Valoran. At first, Morgana made a deal with the League's summoners to fight in exchange for greater power. With the advent of Kayle into the League, Morgana now willingly fights in the League of Legends for the privilege of being able to destroy her sister again, and again, and again. She lies in wait for the day the bonds of the Institute of War no longer hold her, and on that day she plans to destroy Kayle once and for all and return home a hero." *

Clearly lore like this is directly at odds with Riot's stated direction, so I'm wondering if these kinds of outstanding details will be addressed by Riot anytime in the near future? If so, are there any ideas on where they can take these two characters to retain the core of their feud while also giving them a clearer place in the world? As two of my favorite characters in the game, I'm very curious to see what happens to them going forward!

according to the champion page, Kayle sides with Demacia and Morgana sides with Noxus so atleast Riot has a starting point for the two by tying them in with the lores largest Rivalry

They could spin it as Morgana joined up with Noxus so Kayle joined demacia to keep her from wiping them out, since both are way stronger then most other champions the only demacians who could maybe fight Morg are Galio because antimagic and Shyvana because dragon, So Kayle joins to keep them from being wiped out,

Removing the 'summoned from another world' part of Nasus and Renekton's story was a huge improvement in my book, I'm really excited to see Morgana and Kayle given the same treatment (and hopefully Taric and Malphite too).

While where the two sisters are living and aligned is an important question in its own right, I can't help but feel like the biggest and most interesting concern about Kayle and Morg's eventual lore rewrite is, where do they come from now? It's clear neither of them are human, and, at least in their current lore entries, their conflict seems to be based on their societal values, implying that there's an entire species of winged humanoids somewhere. Maybe I'm overlooking something but unless Riot's willing to just say no yeah some people can be born with wings now no biggie, I'm having a hard time imagining where on Runeterra Morgana and Kayle could feasibly be from.

Being from another world is a great way to explain angels. I have no idea what could be done with them now. It would be nice to see them fit in with a bigger story.
