Two To Eight Placements Placed Me In Silver

My placements went terribly. I'm normally at a bronze 5, maybe bronze 4 MMR in normal games, yet Riot put me in a bunch of matches with high silver players for my placements. Naturally, I lost almost all of those and was the sole reason my team lost those matches.

What I have to ask is why Riot places new players in such a high elo for their first placements went they're clearly at bronze level in their normal games. It puts other players in a bad spot since they were losing ranked games because of me, and I was well outside of my element. But the end result is even worse.

Despite losing eight out of ten games, despite having games where I literally went 0:11:3, I still placed at Silver V. I am nowhere close to that skill level, yet League placed me there regardless. I was already told ingame that I was going to get reported for how badly I played, and I have to ask if sucking at League is a bannable offense.

I'm just worried to touch ranked again. It'd be fun to play with other people at my skill level, but Riot seems to be doing everything it can to shove me in with players well outside of my skill level.

Best regards,

AS

Trust me man, from a veteran low-silver player, comparing Silver V and Bronze V isn't completely ridiculous.

Legend has it, if you make it to Platinum, you'll finally see a TRUE display of skill, and probably feel like you belong in a museum.

There's many people like me (I have a legit 3500+ hours played) yet still in silver, whether it be our own fault or not. You definitely will face some experienced players in silver. The system is funky and stressful, it's quite nonsense. I wouldn't even worry about ranked play if I were you.

What you just said OP is the problem with silver elo right now.

I found it funny when I read that Silver is high elo for you xD also as for that , Players in silver and bronze aren't different at all dude

you improve faster when you play against people that are better than you so just do it

My normal MMR is high silver low gold, I usually play with gold players as well. I played placements and had 6/10 placement games have someone on my team go afk and then 2 games had a draven run it up the middle (he was confirmed punished for inting). I got placed B5. Played a little to get into silver at least, but havn't pushed to hard yet. When I play with my gold buddies I get matched vs golds and carry my own and the games are fun. When I solo Q it just feels like an exercise in futility with the horrible plays and afkers even in Silver. There has gotta be a better way to do promos as well as elo.

What I have to ask is why Riot places new players in such a high elo for their first placements

When the system has no information on you (which is the case when you do your first placements) it basically puts you right in the middle of the playerbase, and assume that 50% of the players are worse than you. Which is most of the time a wrong assumption, but it's a constraint of how the Elo system works.

I'm just worried to touch ranked again. It'd be fun to play with other people at my skill level, but Riot seems to be doing everything it can to shove me in with players well outside of my skill level.

Nah, don't worry. Keep playing, and pretty soon you'll be against people of your level. Say, 15 to 20 games and it should be better.

The placement system rocks.. Went 8-2 placements year before last and got placed in bronze 3 or 4. can't remember but it was enough to make me take a break from ranked. Many of those placement games, I was matched up vs a gold/plat from the prior season. That really was upsetting. If I'm going to get dumped in bronze, great, let my placements be against bronze/silver, not gold/plats. I held my own, but many "bronze" won't and will feed lane and lose the game for the team. It feels bad knowing you shouldn't be in this match, but for some reason, matchmaking thinks you belong..
Might try this year again but really makes me think what the point of placements is if someone can rock em and get dumped in bronze and someone who does poorly gets placed higher..

Starting this season my placements werer this: Last season plat 3. Won 7, lost 3 -> Gold 3 Someone in my friendlist was gold 5 last season. Won 2, lost 8 -> Silver 1. It was actually quite annoying to see it. But he fell down to silver 3 and I went up to dia 5 idc ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Yep Bronze friends i have get placed in bronze 1/ silver 5 every year and then go down.
And then people like me go plat3>silver 2 every year. And then there is that 1 person in my friends list that gets to stay the same. This year a guy went plat 5>plat 5.... I feel like winning/losing doesnt matter at all. Its just luck and grade that matter.

Does riot enjoy having high elo players climb a mountain of silver player corpses to get back to where they belong? I enjoy getting fed nearly every game on my way back up to my elo but it cant be fun for them nor fair. It also gimps me because the higher i get, the less im used to playing when not ahead by 1kg+ by 10 min.

The problem here is that, while riot tries to make each match a 50% chance for each team of winning, it can't be perfect.

I'm your first ever placements, your rank doesn't only depend on your X/10 result, but also which games you won/lost, and what the MMR was for each team in those games.

If you still got silver despite going 2 and 8, you probably were consistently on the lower MMR team.

Did you duo queue at all? My gut guess is that your placement is based almost solely on the MMR from your last placement game played, rather than your individual MMR (which determines what game you're likely to be put in). Which means duo queuing for your last game with a silver player would result in you getting a silver game and being placed in Silver). Just a thought.

Anyways, you won't be banned for doing poorly. Best thing is to just keep playing PvP (not bots), and practice good habits. You seem to play a lot of bots and do well there, but you're probably forming bad habits. Whether you prefer ranked or normal doesn't matter much. Rank will get you to a lower rank and have more consistent matches. Or you can do normals until you're Silver-quality, and then not need to climb to silver since you're already there.

they placed you at around average play lvl i wouldnt let it get you down though you can use those losses as a learning xp like why this happened what caused this ect

I won like 4 of my placements in both my previous years and the game put me in fucking Bronze IV both times. What the fuck.

Keshaun4/12/2018, 11:12:17 PM1 votes

I went through that too! When I started playing league, I was playing with mid tier silver players and I was obviously Bronze 5. At that time also, I was playing jungle so I didn't know anything about pathing or efficient ways to gank. It'll get better though if you just keep playing that game and most importantly, having fun.

Don't think that silver V and bronze V is much different.
