Please note that im trying REALLY hard to not be a dick. i am having a hard time finding the best words to convey my message, so please try not to take what i say too harshly. ill mark where i know i sound like an ass. if you can suggest a better way to say it please do so, because the last thing i want is to be a dick.

So when i go to normals its mostly to practice a new champion or a new build. My problem is that Im gold and my opponents are normally bronze (trying not to brag) and this creates a problem for both sides

Me fighting someone lower ranked than me (trying not to be a dick) means that the match will be easier for me (seriously trying) and i dont learn anything doing so. i can grasp the basics like timing the abilities and such but its much more efficient to learn against a opponent of equal skill to me. I cant go into ranked just knowing the basics. I dont want to just go 4-0 in the first 10 minutes because i know the game more than my opponent (trying) rather than im learning the champion.

On the other side, the lower ranked player wont have a fun time fighting someone higher ranked than them. While they could learn a bit from fighting someone higher ranked, its going to be a hard time. back when i was bronze once i fought a diamond player in normals. didnt learn anything out of it, except for how fast i can hit 0-5.

it's more often than not un-helpful to both sides for there to be a imbalance between the skill level of the players. I want some way i can practice a champion against players closer to my skill level so i can learn my new champions. not to mention how unhappy both sides feel. i feel bad winning something out right and they feel bad for being placed in an unfair fight (trying hard still).

If you're really gold, after a few weeks of normals, your Normal MMR should be much better than where it currently is. Then, you'll be playing people of an appropriate skill.

Just keep playing it will balance out. Stop worrying about 'being too good' and just win to raise your mmr to the right level.
