Thoughts on Kayle

While I do like what they did with Kayle, as she is more enjoyable to play to me, there are things I do miss from old Kayle.

I miss being able to solo carry. Kayle was the champion that got me from Silver to Gold (Reinken NA) and has been my go to champion when i get in a funk since she really was a champ that could solo carry from beginning to end. Now, with her current kit, she seems to have a lot more counter play. No longer can I pick her into yas, because his winwall blocks everything. No longer can I take feeding top and bottom to a win because if I ult myself, because I am getting dove constantly I am unable to do damage, so I am in a lose lose situation. That ties into my other thing with Kayle. She seems to be very team oriented. To maximize my ult I have to rely on one of my teammates to initiate and trust that I will ult them on time, which many times just doesnt happen. Either they donnt ever go in, and the enemy team goes in, making ulting and doing damage super hard, especially pre 11, or they go in, by time I land the ult to counter their heavy damage, they are turning around making me miss the damage component of the ult. On top of that, pre 11, she is pretty useless, and so you're having to hope your team doesnt feed so you can carry late I know not much will come of this, and so for me it is just ranting. Again I like the new way they're going with Kayle, I just wish they would tweek her out a bit. Maybe lower the late game damage, and give her some buffs early, or remove the whole damage component surrounding her ult, and give back the ability to do damage while ulted.

From a fellow Kayle main who’s still experimenting with the rework, I can relate. They definitely rose the skill floor and the skill ceiling on our precious angel, and she’s not as straightforward to use. It’s super important to start learning how to properly use her E correctly, as its functionality is completely different.

With that being said, I don’t think all is lost for her. To start, I do feel that while jingling is still not easy with her, it’s more feasible with the new build, especially since her E % health scaling works against monsters. You almost have a double smite in a way early game because of it, and its mana cost is low. Her ganks, so long as you land her Q and make sure to W your laner, makes her ganks a bit more solid, since her E is better for finishing off low health opponents.

Also, for top lane at least, I currently of the mindset that her good/bad matchups have simply changed. I fought an Irelia top recently and thought I was about to get trounced. Instead, I traded pretty favorably with her for most of landing phase and scaled up. Her poor itemization helped, too, but still. There is hope, my friend.
