Me and my friend who is level 14 want to play together and he wants to play caitlyn. He's pretty bad so i need some support who can deal damage and help him out. I was thinking sona or Soraka, what do you guys think?

Lulu is pretty good for this. She does decent damage herself and can BUFF the damage the carry does, making them more valuable even if they're bad, or, you can become a carry yourself, as the term "machine gun Lulu" came to be or ap mage
CC for days, and tanky as hell.
These three are pretty simple to get good at and can basically hand feed ADC's a kill in bot lane.
You will force those kills down their throats whether they like it or not.
All of them are pretty good at protecting and don't rely on their carry succeeding for managing their own lane presence. I'd also say Lulu, but you really have to know what you're doing with her.
