Nothing does, which is what defines True damage. There's no need to look up exceptions to the rule, there are none. It can be prevented by immunity to damage, sure, but not reduced.

Nothing amplifies it either, also.

Fiora/Gangplank/Camille would like a word with you. On a side note, Camille will drop as soon as the popularity goes down because % damage is even worse than true damage.

It was an important point to make. In the past, certain percent damage boosts would also apply to true damage- think old Poppy ult. (Not that Poppy had much true damage outside of red buff, but still.) Heck, I think scuttle crab might still amplify true damage while affected by hard CC.

Dracocrash1 votes

nope! I beleive being cc'd reduces scuttle crabs resistances, which makes it take more damage. True damage would be unaffected by this.

Dolasaur1 votes

Hard CC does reduce the resistances permanently. But it also amplifies damage taken while the CC is active. It definitely amplifies physical and magical damage. I'm just not sure about true damage.

Or... I wasn't! Until I just double checked:

"While Rift Scuttler is under the effect of crowd control that prevents her movement, she receives 25% extra damage from all sources, including true damage. " - http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Scuttle_Crab

I meant amplified by %damage increasing things, like, say, Battle Trance or Merciless.

What do you think "true" damage stands for lul

Tormentula1 votes

No, it reduces movements speed and attack speed, additionally it reduced armor and magic resist.

Since true damage ignores armor and magic resist, it does not affect it from the attackers side, or the defenders side.

Since true damage ignores armor and magic resist, it does not affect it from the attackers side, or the defenders side. it also lowers damage by 40% not true damage though

The tooltip needs to be revised to 40% attack and magic damage

Darius Nope, my noxian rod is too big for something petty like exhaust to make my dunk weak Darius

No, which is stupid.

TequilaZombie1 votes

Why is it stupid? True Damage can't be amplified by any means, so it kinda makes sense that it can't be reduced as well.

There are currently only 2 sources of debuffing the enemy's damage in LOL. Sona and Exhaust. They are both targeted to one champion.

Thematically this is supposed to represent a champion being weakened. True Damage is a representation of a champion hitting between/through armor and defense (sometimes physical, sometimes magical) to strike as if they were naked. If you weaken the source they will hit less hard. It will still hurt/deal damage but not as much because they would be hitting with x% less force.

Mechanically, debuffing damage is changing the targets damage output so that their abilities and attacks deal x% less damage. This damage would still be true but it would be reduced. True damage deals full damage through armor, DR, MR because it ignores the targets defense but Exhaust isn't the target's defense it is the weakening of damage. Exhaust isn't a buff saying "Grant 30% damage reduction to an ally" Its saying reduce the damage of the enemy. True damage just has an extra added on immunity to debuffing is all. I suspect it was just easier to program because there are only two ways to debuff damage.

Urgot is crying in his corner because nobody remembers him. Passive- Zaun-Touched Bolt Augmenter: Urgot's basic attacks and Acid Hunter reduce the damage dealt by his target by 15% for 2.5 seconds.

I hope you're happy. At least he'll be able to stack up item 3004 with the tears he shed.

Exhaust is a 'targeted' Summoner spell, which slows Movement Speed and reduces all physical and magic damage dealt by 30%. It also reduces Attack Speed by 50%

Profirix1 votes

True damage is designed to be unaffected by damage reduction of any type. Thats why it's called 'true' damage. It is also unaffected by damage amplification.

No, but good question.
