There is no rule stating that playing duo top/mid violates the game code. If Riot wants players to play jungle, they should not have gimped the role. It is way more efficient to have a duo lane than a jungler at this point. You would only need one person to carry smite and go to JG from time to time or a chogath to secure objectives.
Actually if you are forcing a playstyle on your team that is unwanted it is against the rules. If by off meta you meant champion then you would be correct but ruining your team's game experience is absolutely bannable.

Really mid should be the duo lane so it can help solo lanes equally.
Off Meta champ will not get you banned. Off Meta Role can. Playing Jungle as support top or mid will get you banned if you dont "Ok" it with your team.

Good for you, I do the same thing. I adapt to changes as well. when something gets buffed, changed or added I will change play style, and champions I play as well in order to make the match more enjoyable. Never let things force you into something you are not enjoying.
I still do the roaming jg support thing. People get so mad, even had a bot lane start inting because of it. I wasn't doing bad though, but when people's butts start hurting and the tears start flowing, you can't stop the tantrum no matter how hard you carry.
