This "I give up" 5 minutes into game meta needs to stop.

3/3 games loss because people give up 5 minutes in and passive aggressive afk because it's "not their main role in rank". With Riot being flooded with reports, reporting doesn't even do much because they'd have to personally review every single case of passive-aggressive trolling to enforce punishment.

Didnt you know that some players are psychic and can tell the outcome of a match with 100% accuracy after first blood?

ReportsAreCancer2/15/2019, 11:02:15 PM11 votes

As they say, don't hate the player, hate the game. People give up because they know you cannot come back from most games when you are behind due to poor champion balance and extreme snowballing.

a lot of these games are one sided games most times so i'm not suprised when ppl tilt at 10 min and the game is 15 to 2 or something similar.i thought maybe its just a low elo thing but then i watch a diamond stream and its more of the same stompfests.the matchmaking is all over the place.not saying that giving up is right but some of these games are so heavily one sided that would take 50 minutes to even have a chance at catching up.easier to just ff and play the next one.

3rd year Saying riot needs to implement a system in their matchmaking that catches people who surrender and groups them together both with and against each other and People who dont press the yes surrender button group them togehter both with and against each other. This makes the player base seem alot better for both types of people Surrender-ers wont feel like people are trapping them in games and people who dont surrender dont feel like they have as much trolls.

I hate this toxic way of thinking and it needs to be stopped. I have been crushed early in many games and still won. I have won 4v5's. Even a 3v5 ONCE. EVO motto for fighting games is how I feel when playing this game. Never give up no matter the circumstances you just never know..

General Matty2/17/2019, 3:45:50 AM4 votes

People need to stop justifying AFKing in games. it's not ok, and should never BE ok.

EL HAMSTERO2/16/2019, 6:53:06 PM4 votes

whats the motivation to win? its matchmaking so everyone has to lose half anyway. if you can tell its not going to be a fun game then you might as well take the loss as fast as possible.

Morale seems low this season. Lotta FF15/FF20.

It can def feel unsatisfying. I also encourage more players to play it out sometimes.

I've seen some pretty gnarly comebacks, and really, the players who choose to play those things out often develop their skills the most.

ShadowArchon2/16/2019, 4:04:33 AM3 votes

Snowball meta, forced a role you don't really wanna play/ not in the mood to, wrong attitude even though it's ranked ...those are the main factors.

Ravenous Howls2/16/2019, 5:24:45 AM3 votes

The heavy amount of damage, CDR saturation and Gold Snowball are the problems. Largely, if a game goes with one teams dominating 2/4 different positions and the objectives, the game is all but decided in the first 5 minutes. Yes you can come back, there is that chance, but the chances of your team not int'ing or afk'ing are low, sadly.

Stróc Dúnmharú2/16/2019, 7:05:28 PM3 votes

Games needs to be slowed down then. Less passive gold, less damage on runes, less CDR on items (too many of them give 20%), and less money/free stats from objectives.

If you want less people just giving up when they're a little behind, comebacks need to feel like they are likely enough to occur to be worth the effort to try.

99% of those "I give up" or "top/mid/bot open" players still keep playing anyways. At this point these words mean literally nothing other than "I don't like my team" (or even a single teammate). Who cares.

Riot needs to fix there match making first

Strawberrycocoa2/16/2019, 4:22:36 AM2 votes

In ranked I can understand this, but I'm strictly a Normals player, and frankly I should be allowed to just leave when I feel like it in a non-competitive game mode. Most of my tilting/frustration moments come from feeing forced to stay in a game that I no longer feel is worth my time.

Bloodrage Shadow2/16/2019, 8:10:20 AM2 votes

The "I give up" 5 minutes in will end once riot actually fixes what causes the mentality in the first place. But we know they won't because these issues have been going on since the tail end of season 7, probably even before that tbh so enjoy the meta.

Autofill has to go, it's nothing but problem

ShortStackd2/17/2019, 4:26:34 PM2 votes

It's the positional queues that need to go. This community is not mature enough to handle that toxic game addition. I have had 5 afks on my team in the past 10 games. Much more than that in the 60 ish games of ranked this season. Almost all of them are people getting autofilled and since it doesn't hurt their rank anymore, and Riot rarely seems to care about afks (especially the "clever" ones that keep moving in fountain so they don't ACTUALLY dc), so they don't seem to get banned either.

Normally it's one of those things people say should even out (meaning you get enemy teams that have afks as well to balance it out), but this year not a single 4v5 has been in my favor. It's exhausting and making this game pretty much unplayable unless you just wanna have fun in normals with friends. This season's climb is insufferable.

If your bot lane gave first blood through an early invade and the jungler isn't getting them back into the game as they fall behind in laning, the game IS over by 5 minutes.

That's how stupid all these ADC buffs have been. half the top ladder players are ADC because the bot lane that gets ahead early wins the game, period.

Say thank you to the new ranked split system

Mael Jade2/17/2019, 8:27:05 AM1 votes

Nah, some games are lost really early. When I as mid lane Viktor got dove, camped and 3 manned to a point where I was 0/4, my turret had 2 platings left and I was 2 lvl behind I called a "Go next". We still won cause my jungler did the smart thing and helped out other lanes while letting me cash in some shut downs and my bot lane played well but thats a 1/10 that multiple roles/lanes play well by themself.

FSRER2/17/2019, 6:45:41 PM1 votes

I have heard the "ff15" at 5 mins mark phrase a lot. I have to say that I gave up on my own some games (Oh look I play malphite vs nasus what a fun experience!!) and im guilty of losing my temper. On the other hand, if they have a jungler and you have a devourer stacker there is not much to be done (had a sylas jgl the other game who had 1/3/5 at 40 mins game dealing 9,8k dmg.....good stuff)

Unless you literally get up from your computer and have an APM of near 0, riot will never, ever punish someone for soft afking. Hard life, truly.
