My opinion on Rakan

He's an amazing support.

Good mobility and his Q heal is nice and his shields are great.

His Q has a nice heal as long as you hit an enemy champ with it.

His passive gives him some safety for going in

His W is an awesome knock-up an escape

I feel the shield his E gives to a person is less special than the dash, he can stand alone without xayah but losing the extra dash range kinda hurts with any other adc.

And his ultimate is a pretty unique one for a support.

And now my complaint.

The Q range feels extremely short. Also the heal scaling with lvl is kinda weird.I know its probably because riot doesnt want him to have a huge impact being safe and sound in the back with his carries but some extra range would definitely help in lane especially since you only get the heal from hitting champs.

the q heal per level is a lot better than you think. it means he can max q last and go for w and e bigger shields and more engages and still have a decent heal. all you get from maxing q is the damage and cd? portion. he was designed with a weq or ewq max in mind, though I always start q first.

^ this person gets it.

Also, to TC, you are expected to and use your passive to auto attack harass hand use your Q to top you and/or your lane partner off in trades. it isn't meant to be a poke/harass tool by itself.

Why would i max Q last? It has higher base damage than his W.

because his w has a knockup and is longer range that's why. I'd say q max would be viable without the per level scaling but because it does that it frees him up to max e first if you want to go defensive and w if you want to go offensive. rakan is melee-ish. his poke is low range and incredibly risky with his low hp pool and no self based defensive options, which is why ancient coin is a recommended start to facilitate going in for kills which he is good at and staying back otherwise.

rakan is cancer. retarded champion. 3 dashes? like really?

3 dashes heal knock up 5 man taunt shields movement speed during ult almost infinite mana his abilities cost nothing.

idk wtf riot is thinking when making these fcking champions that have so much cc and sustain. he also does damage alot of damage.

Here's a tip that'll help you actually SHIT on Rakan. His Q isn't easy to hit and requires him to get pretty close to hit it, and position around your minions. Punish him when he tries to hit it. His W makes him stand still for a full second, focus his ass during that time, and a hard CC to boot will keep him from dashing out. Most initiation/CC abilities thrown out at the start of a fight will destroy his chances of ulting in on you. Always try to initiate first so he won't be able to ult to win the fight off the back. Aoe screws him since he has to get into melee range of an ally to heal or shield them, which puts him in major danger. Abuse his positioning requirements and CC him when he tries to engage, and he won't be a problem.

he also does damage alot of damage

He does less base damage than Thresh, while having less total ap scalings(on damage portions), AND does not naturally gain ap. When was the last time people complained about Thresh's damage?

The fact is, Rakan has lower base damage than most of the supporty support roster, while having about the same scaling. The only difference is, he has 3 skills that attack enemies, instead of 2(but still for 50% scaling, which is pitiful)

His mana costs(at lvl 3) are 14% of his mana pool(q), 12%(w), and 14%(e). That means a full trade combo is 40% of his mana. And except for his q(which is usually maxed last) all his mana costs go up to 90+.

I've seen full support tank threshs 1v1 the fed carry with their 200 free ap and about 2k in bases and scalings as well as a 300 per auto. I dunno I've complained about his damage a few times.

I did say " less base damage, less total ap scalings(on damage portions), AND does not naturally gain ap."

Though I did not (fully)consider Thresh's infinite scaling when I used that comparison, so you do have a point.

Nami is a much better comparison, as she has only slightly more damage(25 on her q, 50 on her ult), similar utility, and only 1 skill that has a higher ap ratio(and that is by .1 on her ult)

I do agree they are quite similar, though rakan has a bit more protection and mobility it's balanced by his need to get point blank with the targets and lower base defense and no real self preservation skills. try taking dragon with him, it's a nightmare but far easier spamming e on an ally.
