Dead Man's plate 's tooltip is either confusing or the item itself isnt working properly for ranged.

So I was playing Gnar today and decided to get Dead Man's Plate. It was really fun running at 460 movespeed but I noticed something that I don't think the tooltip explains correctly.

So the first passive explains how you gain Momentum and what it does. Cool. The second one though states "You expend all charges on hit, dealing 1 damage per 2 charges. If 100 are used some bonus occurs. Melee only."

What's melee only? Expending the charges? Dealing damage with the charges? Slowing people with 100 charges?

I was playing Gnar and while i was Mini I was expending charges of momentum upon basic attacking but I was not dealing any bonus damage or slow.

Is this working as intended? If it is could the tooltip be cleared up a bit?

It really doesn't get that much simpler...

Could get simpler. It remains ambiguous whether the slow is melee-only, or the bonus damage AND the slow. Clearly the charges are expended either way.

I just read a post claiming that only the slow is melee-only, which is good news for my Dead Man's Bard. Haven't confirmed it personally though.

tested with azir just to see what would happen, soldiers don't interact with deadman's plate (expected). however, without soldier's azir will expel charges from deadman's plate without increased damage. tested easily on sandcrab (don't have to worry about other things hitting it)
