Consistently Losing Promos

I've just about had enough of this BS. Failed my promos 6 times. SIX FUCKING TIMES. It doesn't matter if I bot, top, mid or jg. Everyone sucks complete dick regardless of where they go. People tunnel too hard, don't listen, have too much pride, consistently do dumb shit, ignore pings, mute you when you try to reason with them and to top it all off they dislike picking comps that win games. This matchmaking sucks ass and for people who are in the top "5%" games are way too uneven and garbage like. I get some people have bad games. I get you can't win them all. But do you have to make it so freaking obvious that you're intentionally giving me shitters every promo series?

This game alone single-handedly actually makes me think humanity has is filled, for the majority, of idiots.

The MMR system is a joke; not even a funny one. It is based, as far as I have read and can tell, entirely on team performance; if you get unlucky and lose a few games, for whatever reason (you have a bad game, other people have bad games, you get a troll/ragequitter....etc) your MMR will tank. At this point, you will be matched with people with the same MMR, and lose even more games, until you get to the point where you can actually carry 2 or more people, at which point you will stabilise. Your climb then relies on finding people in a similar situation to you in amongst the sea of people. Beyond that, I am actually starting to believe that there is a system designed to stop mobility on top of that; the majority of flat out feeding trolls and ragequitters I have encountered have been in promos or one game away from them; for every promo series I have entered, I have been one game away from 100LP and lost three times over. And of course, if you fail that promo for whatever reason, you enter the Loss Spiral that most people in Gold and above denies exists. I have also noticed win/loss ratios getting worse as the Season goes on; most mobility happens in the first few months, and then everything sort of locks down for no apparent reason. And since your placement at the start of the next Season is reliant on your previous Rank, you cannot climb outside of that time. Riot seem to have little-to-no interest in allowing mobility, I think because below Challenger there are no limits to Rank size (i.e. there is no cap on the number of Gold players) and by having little movement it allows them to say stuff like 'Silver are the top 50% of players'

Exactly. As big as the rank pool is, I feel like it's still way too small. I don't WANT to hurt anyone's feelings or anything, but I think there really should be more tiers to climb through. League is just too diverse and the skill difference between people is simply too huge in certain divisions. Some people truly get carried through sheer luck. And for people putting forth and displaying skill getting stuck with those people who are simply just lucky, it becomes a real toss up of how games will go.

Then you have to throw the meta people NOT in high tiers (but still high enough to where it matters) simply do not and won't conform to, as well as people NOT playing the game to win through the greatest means makes it very difficult to climb.

Very insightful and truly helpful comment. I know how to play the game above a decent level. If I didn't, I wouldn't be where I am now. I still have a lot to learn, I won't deny that. But, at the same time, it's very obvious when you have crap teams and bad games. Let me tell you the difference between a smurf and a player actively trying to climb:

It's hard to actually climb after sinking 200+ games getting to where you are. While smurfing, your MMR is so high, that eventually, you'll end up matched with higher tier players even in lower tiers. When this happens, you get better and more decent teammates. Because of this, you can climb more easily (on top of getting that oh so lovely LP and division skips) so smurfs don't exactly go through the hardships people trying to climb out certain divisions go through. Granted, that's not to say that they CAN'T climb, but surely they won't climb nearly as fast as from a freshly created account.

So, no, this is not a L2P or git gud case. It's a toss up because I don't play adc. And when I do play adc, I get camped and my team ignores my lane. I don't get peel and I don't get to play the standard that actually wins the game. When I play top, my adcs are actually garbage. Even if I DO peel for them, they can't position to save their lives. When I play jg, all my laners feed and can't actively set up the lanes to be ganked so I'm stuck trying to counter jg for people that can't word or position. Actively, I think my performance, for the most part, is pretty consistent. Obviously, consistent enough to hit promos 7 times and finally succeed on my 8th time.

So yeah... you can can your much "needed" suggestion.

I never said they were holding me back. I said they were making it difficult to climb because of the matchmaking. But my mom told me never to argue with monkeys. I'm starting to see why.
