More bans = More variety?
If you ban out the strong champions, won't the next best be played anyways?
You're not really increasing the number of champions being played, you're just changing what's being played.
If I'm mistaken please correct me.

Solo queue bans are really pointless. The only thing they're good for is edging out possibly unforeseen patch powerup champions and getting rid of champions your tired of playing against.

But what if some of us like those guys? I mean, at that point, you're creating a Pandora's Box where it's difficult to use the better champs or learn the match-up against them because they're always banned. If one does show up, everyone gets rolled over and a knee-jerk patch is put up. There definitely aren't more than 6 "way too op" champs in this meta, so I think 6 bans is good enough.
If the champ pool gets moderately larger, then increase the ban amount (like, by 150-ish, 4 bans a team would make some sense), but for now, 6 is comfy.

If they did increase the amount of bans, then they'd have to do it DOTA-style and do picks between bans.
Besides, some of us legit like some of the guys that happen to be strong in the meta. With ten bans, we'd never see certain champs ever again until they were made bad.
It depends on how many champs there are in each tier of imbalance. If you increase the number of bans far enough to dip into a lower tier but not too far that you can ban out that entire tier, then you'll have more variety as players pick which of those champs they'd like to ban.
I mean, there's a reason people are worried that their champs would get banned out - it's because everyone just focuses on the most OP champs.
-or- make solo que bans like 5 each team, but retain the 3 regular bans for team.
solo que =/= team que
Bans cannot be increased, not only would this add to the burden of knowledge but it would also result in many players being unable to play ranked until they unlocked the new minimum number of champions,
There will always be some champs who are more overpowered than others no matter how many bans you allow. Banning is more for preventing counter picks and champs who are clearly way more powerful than any others in the game
