I've been a dunkey fan for a long time now and even though I do agree on most of his secondary points in his video, I completely disagree with his main point: if you flame, you deserve punishment. Yes, that Malphite is an idiot and deserves a long ban, but wishing anyone death over a FUCKING VIDEO GAME is ban worthy. I always had a sour taste in my mouth when I saw dunkey flaming players in his videos, but let it slide because I'm not aware of the context. But if he seriously thinks telling a stranger (which he never met and probably will never meet again) that he hopes he will be gunned down then I don't know, it's just a toxic nature.

TL;DR What I do agree on with dunkey:

Riot is way too slow when it comes to dealing with toxic players (kind of ironic because he got banned)
Riot doesn't provide enough support to the people who promoted their game for years (they actually did make the Content Lab but that's not enough).
Riot is an incompetent company that many times takes the wrong approach when it comes to maintaining its only game.

What I disagree on with dunkey:

Flaming (it's not trashtalking) is not a part of the game

On this point. In the video I feel like Dunkey wanted them to give him a "get out of jail free card" because he made content For Them. When in reality Dunkey never gave two shits about making content for Riot he made content of their game For Himself and Viewers. Yes Dunkey was doing a good thing for Riot but so are a thousand other streamers and youtubers.

I think Dunkey kind of understands a very important point subconsciously, but doesn't want to admit it:

Riot gave dunkey way more viewers than Dunkey gave Riot players.

I found dunkey because he had league videos, and I played League. I'm certain a vast number of people are similar in that aspect. And you can kinda tell that dunkey is a bit worried about his decision; he knows that he'll probably lose viewers over quitting league. He doesn't seem to understand why that is.

Because he's always needed Riot more than Riot needed him.

Yeah he's toxic and the punishment is just, but I'm sad that he took it this way rather than as a warning to keep his cussing out of the LoL chat (I love the way he cusses in his videos, he never cusses twice in the same way, always something original added to it). Too bad he stopped with making league videos, because I loved them. He's my favourite youtuber and I'll still watch his other videos, but his LoL vids were my favourite.

I've never heard of this Dunkey guy before the video and I have to say, I agree with the first 5 mins of the video 100%. I didn't even watch the rest of it, but it's sad that malph can intentionally feed and not be punished, yet pointing out the truth that he is a fukhead can be.

Should Malphite be punished if he's intentionally feeding games? Yes.

Does that mean Dunkey had every right to say he wishes him dead, despite the ToS you agree to every time a patch happens stating you can't? No.

Does being a YouTuber give him the special treatment? No.

Was he a good example of the game? Opinion's for this part, but for me no.

I got nothing against a bit of trash talk. That was no trash talk. If you think what he said was justified, you basically say that it's okay to be as toxic as you want. Not to mention they don't just start off with bans. He has had many chat restrictions before this, and Riot decided he's not going to learn unless they completely lock him away for a while.

If you look at the way that the game handles bans, things start to look a little funny. First, it's basically impossible for someone to get banned from a single game's reports so Dunkey probably had some other reports of toxicity before that game. If this were a first offense or his other reports weren't significant, he'd most likely have received just a chat ban instead of a game ban.

Secondly, the way the game looks at bannable situations changes based on the offense. Chat bans have a lot of automation to them so it's possible that once he was reported the game went through his chat backlogs, looked for key words or scenarios and banned him quickly. Something like intentional feeding can't be scanned in quite the same way as intentional feeding can look a lot like someone having a bad game, so banning them through automation can result in banning people for doing poorly which adds a lot of insult to injury. So intentional feeding almost always needs a human to look at and evaluate the situation which takes more time and typically has more gray area to prevent banning people for trying but failing.

Bearing in mind that a single game's reports are rather difficult to get banned from, it's possible that if the Malphite in question had no/insignificant previous reports that he'd be able to avoid getting banned from the one game shown. Even if he did have previous reports, it would take more time for him to get banned than Dunkey.

While most people agree that intentional feeding is worse than verbal abuse, both people performed reportable actions and were treated accordingly. Just because one player was banned doesn't mean that the other player automatically meets the criteria for also being banned in regards to their specific offense. Going afk because someone is being verbally abusive means both players should be reported, assisting the enemy team because someone is afk means that both people should be reported, and each case should be treated in isolation to see whether that case combined with their previous cases warrant action.

I think it may be a bit much for him to say that he's not going to be making League videos any more, but I would understand if this left a sour taste in his mouth, causing him to take a League hiatus, upload League less frequently, or only be in League videos via being in other Youtuber's videos as he didn't say he would stop playing, just stop making videos himself.

The malphite should have been punished, I don't think anyone is disagreeing with that. Lyte said that the trigger game for his ban wasn't even the game with the malphite so that means there are other games. Plus people have said hes been chat restricted several times before and bragged about it in his videos.

Its a pretty ridiculous summation of the situation to say that dunkeys comment was just "pointing out the truth that he is a fuckhead". That was up there with the worst comments I've seen. Really the only thing it was missing was racism.

Yes, but he isn't...nor will he be. That is the problem. If people like that were actually punished, you would see actually improvements in League. Until then, we will continue to have the "omg such toxic community" convos as long as the game is popular. Which doesn't bug me since people aren't toxic to me. Probably because I don't do things that make people flame.

Also, that malph was a fuckhead lol. There is no debating it. Someone that is intentionally trying to dick people over are worthless in my opinion.

You are right that he probably wont. Someone posted that malphs profile yesterday and I went through his history and couldn't find anything so its not like hes doing it all the time. Everything everyone thinks about that malphite is based on like a 3 second clip where he dies and the statement of a historically known to be toxic person. Like I said, I think he probably should have been punished but that isn't based on much.

Dunkey wasn't punished for that one game. He has a history of punishments and lyte posted that the game with the malphite wasn't even the final game that triggered his ban.

All I'm saying is that rito is never ever ever (my girl T-Swift's voice) going to fix toxicity if they don't actually attempt to fix the cause of it.

The thing is though, that is just your opinion on what the cause of toxicity. It is certainly a factor, I don't see it as that large of a factor.

Personally Id say the biggest contribute is the snowball nature of the game. Its a doubled edged sword. Its what makes the game so frustrating at times, but its also what makes it so satisfying. This is also what causes many games to be one sided. Which most people blame matchmaking for.

Reducing toxicity also reduces trolling because trolls feed on the reactions. Reacting to trolls reinforces their behavior because it is giving them exactly what they want. If you give a dog a treat every time he shits on the carpet it's gonna keep doing it.

I have not really looked into this matter, but from what I can tell, Dunkey did something wrong and most people's excuse is "but other people were doing bad stuff too". Of course, this does not excuse punishable behavior. You don't get arrested for stealing and use the excuse that other people were stealing too. It does not work that way.

Of course, I need to watch the YouTube videos to get more background context, but I can just tell from these new Boards that he probably deserved whatever ban he received.

If I were to describe how dunkey feels its like this. A guy in class throws a pencil at the back of your neck every day. Nothing too bad nothing too good either right? Then eventually one day you get sick of it and tell that bitch to die. And its just like that. I agree dunkey shouldn't have gone that far as to say you should die. But everyone has a point where they just have to let it go and personally I don't think someone who has helped riot a lot should get banned for letting off steam. The most he should get is a chat restriction. O well not everyone will agree.

You must not go on the boards much??? A lot. I mean a LOT of people have voiced their distaste in general with this game in the past few months. "I'm quitting league". Threads like that are popping up increasingly often. The attitude of being fed up with League is a common one nowadays, so he's obviously going to have supporters, regardless of whether they agree with his actual point or not. Hell, regardless if they're even fans or not.

I find it funny how Riot implements a button to stop toxicity but no one uses it and toxic players are the most banned yet you can't block a troller and they barely get banned. The excuse of "Well you can prove through chat logs that he was toxic but u cant prove a troller" Uhh yes you can. In the video when he dies to Darius you can see the chat log and malphite basically says "I called support bard is dyslexic gave my team ample time to dodge (He wanted someone else to lose LP instead of himself cause he was being a dickhead) they didnt dodge so im feeding, enjoy free win." The chat logs clearly show that this guy had trolling intentions. Also if a guy has 9 deaths pre 15 mins and isnt farming, getting assists, or kills im pretty sure its clear the guy is trolling.

Now im not saying dunkey is right, he is very wrong and he was toxic but there are a few things we need to address.

Riot needs to stop babying their customers, in the real world are you going to go to the police cause someone called you a fucktard? No. Im talking about minor toxicity, dunkeys level was beyond bad but if someone says "You are retarded" they shouldn't be banned, sorry but they just shouldn't.
Riot needs to fix their report system drastically. There is a reason over 80% of bans are toxic bans, its because riot doesn't ban anyone else cause they don't focus on any other type of report besides toxicity.

Thats just my 2 cents.

You can mute idiots with a big mouth, you can't mute feeders and afkers. I don't agree with how harsh dunkey was but this kind of stuff happens prob 1 out of 3 games maybe higher. About every 3 games you will have someone not get their role and be a big baby about it and suck on purpose or feed or go like 0-3 then afk. It's really hard not to turn toxic yourself if you play this game long enough because the people actually trying hard are being held back hard by people that just don't care. Every since i started ranked on League I never understood how so many trolls could be in ranked, couldn't understand why they are even in ranked if they just trolling. But the moral of this comment is, dunkey showed everyone really what is wrong with the game 50% of the time you are either being verbally assualted and told to go kill yourself(mute button is great) by 1 or more people or you have a afk or someone mad that didn't get role and they feed.

I love League thou and I'm going to keep working hard to try get out of silver.
